Heads up, graduating students! The YMCA of Leyte is excited to announce the commencement of its Annual Outstanding Student Award (OSA) program, an initiative that seeks to recognize students who exemplify excellence beyond mere academic achievements.

The YMCA Outstanding Student Award (OSA) is a community level recognition of the achievement of graduating students among elementary, junior and senior high schools, technical vocational schools, colleges and universities in Tacloban City.

Deadline for the submission of application/s is on March 20, 2026. See your respective school heads/student affairs office for details, or message us for more information.

We take great pride in recognizing one of our youth leaders, YC President Esther Faith P. Torre, for representing not only our organization, but also the voices of young people in climate-vulnerable communities at the 4th Global Mental Health Advocacy Forum held in Iloilo last February 2–4. 💙🌏

Gathering with more than 500 advocates, researchers, grassroots leaders, and changemakers from around the world, she courageously shared lived experiences and insights on the intersection of climate change and mental health — reminding everyone that the struggles of young people in calamity-prone areas deserve to be heard and understood.

From contributing to meaningful discussions on climate and mental health, to speaking about youth engagement and leadership in global advocacy, she stood as a powerful voice for our generation. Her participation reflects what true servant leadership looks like — grounded in empathy, courage, and action.

Thank you for leading with purpose, for amplifying youth voices, and for proving that young leaders can take up space in global conversations. Your YMCA family is incredibly proud of you. 💙✨

✨🎁 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝟮 || 𝗣𝗔𝗛𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗣𝗔𝗬: 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗮𝘀 𝗚𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝗚𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 🎁✨

Last December 25, Christmas Day, the true spirit of the season came alive as the YMCA of Leyte and its Youth Council, together with the Brgy. 100 San Roque SK Council held PAHALIPAY: Christmas Gift Giving Initiative for selected kids in Brgy. 100, San Roque. 🎄💝

The celebration was not only about giving gifts, but about creating joy and meaningful memories. The day was filled with amazing and fun games with prizes, laughter, and excitement, along with engaging intermission numbers prepared by the Youth Council that brought smiles to every child’s face. ✨

More than the presents they received, the children experienced love, care, and a sense of belonging. This initiative goes beyond gift giving. It is about making kids smile, letting them enjoy the moment, and reminding them that they are valued and celebrated.

Through every game played, every performance shared, and every grateful smile, the YMCA of Leyte Youth Council continues to light the Christmas spirit and inspire hope within the community. Because Christmas is not about the gift you receive, but the love and heart behind every act of giving. 🎄💚

✨🧼 KalimpYuhan: Proper Hygiene Orientation 🧼✨

Good habits start young! The YMCA of Leyte with its Youth Council held a fun and educational Hygiene Orientation on selected kids in Brgy 100 San Roque, teaching them the importance of proper tooth brushing, hand washing, and taking care of themselves every day. 🪥🖐️

The kids learned the correct ways to brush their teeth, wash their hands, and keep clean, understanding that staying healthy helps not only themselves but everyone around them. 💚

To make it even more exciting, each participant received a hygiene kit with all the essentials they need to practice these habits at home. From toothpaste and toothbrushes to soap and other goodies, the kids went home ready to stay clean, healthy, and confident! 🎁✨

The YMCA of Leyte Youth Council believes that teaching children good habits today help build a stronger, healthier community tomorrow. Together, we can make cleanliness and care a part of everyday life, one bright smile and clean hand at a time!
