SOS TACLOBAN CELEBRATES 56 YEARS: HONORING A LEGACY OF CARE AND FAMILY 💙✨

In a simple yet heartfelt and festive way, SOS Children's Village Tacloban marked its 56th Founding Anniversary—honoring a legacy of love, care, and strong families rooted in the heart of Eastern Visayas.

The commemoration began with a solemn Holy Mass, grounding the day in gratitude and reflection.

"Today, we give thanks not only for the 56 years that have passed, but for the lives touched, the families formed, and the love that continues to grow in this community," the presiding priest shared.

The Village transitioned into a colorful sportsfest vibe, as the Village came alive with the spirited energy of the Blue, Green, and Red teams—filling the air with cheers, chants, and friendly competition. Through lively games and activities, children, young people, caregivers, and co-workers showcased grit, resourcefulness, creativity, camaraderie, and sportsmanship—strengthening bonds that go beyond play and nurturing the spirit of siblingship and family relationships at the heart of SOS care.

In her message, Village Director Ma. Lea A. Bateo reflected:

"As we celebrate 56 years of our journey, we are reminded that even in the simplest ways, what truly matters is our togetherness as one family. Despite the challenges we face, we remain strong because of the love we share, the care we give, and the commitment we uphold for every child entrusted to our care."

More than a celebration, the day was a living testament to 56 years of building loving homes, nurturing potentials, and keeping the legacy alive—a legacy of SOS Children's Villages Pilipinas that ensures, now and always, that no child grows alone.

MAMA GEMMA: A LIFE OF LOVE AND MOTHERHOOD AT SOS ILOILO

Mama Gemma’s journey is one of service, sacrifice, and unconditional love. As the first retired SOS Mother of SOS Children's Village Iloilo, she dedicated 22 years to raising children with care, love, and compassion.

She was inspired by her own upbringing in a large, loving family and chose to become an SOS Mother to give children the same sense of belonging and care she once experienced. Through training and early experiences in the village, she quickly understood the emotional depth and responsibility of the role. 💚
