The RTRPTAA Physical Therapy Clinic was conceptualized as a collaborative initiative grounded in a shared commitment to community service, rehabilitation, and inclusive healthcare. This partnership was born from the unified vision of three key stakeholders: the RTR Physical Therapy Alumni Association, Inc. (RTRPTAA INC.), the Department of Social Welfare and Development Region VIII (DSWD-VIII), and the RTR Educational Foundation, Inc. (DRTREFI).
The conception of the clinic began with the alumni of RTR Medical Foundation’s Physical Therapy program seeking meaningful ways to give back to the community that shaped their professional journeys. Through the RTRPTAA, these dedicated professionals mobilized resources and expertise to provide free rehabilitation services, especially to underserved and vulnerable populations.
In alignment with this vision, DSWD Region VIII, through its Reception and Study Center for Children (RSCC), welcomed the idea of hosting a physical therapy clinic on-site. Recognizing the growing needs of children with developmental delays and disabilities, DSWD saw the partnership as a critical support mechanism in delivering holistic care and inclusive rehabilitation within the child protection system.
Completing this partnership is RTREFI, the academic institution that serves as the educational foundation for RTR Educational Foundation’s Physical Therapy students. RTREFI committed its support by integrating the clinic into its community-based rehabilitation initiatives and field training programs. By involving PT students as volunteers under the guidance of licensed clinicians, the clinic also became a learning laboratory that enhances practical education while directly serving the community.
Together, this tripartite partnership aims to establish the RTR Physical Therapy Clinic not only as a service provider but also as a sustainable outreach program that embodies community care, intersectoral collaboration, and professional volunteerism. The clinic officially launches in 2025 at the DSWD RSCC in Region VIII, symbolizing the power of alumni engagement, government support, and academic advocacy in transforming lives through therapy.
