Today, we are amplifying our calls for the protection of 11 proposed Protected Areas in the Philippines and our mission is to safeguard these critical ecosystems to meet and contribute with the Philippines’ commitment on protecting 30% of the country’s land and water areas by 2030.

The pending 11 protected areas are:
1. Paoay Lake Protected Landscape
2. Expanded Las Piñas–Parañaque Wetland Park
3. San Francisco Landscape
4. Alibijaban Protected Landscape and Seascape
5. Taklong and Tandog Group of Islands Natural Park
6. Aurora Memorial Protected Landscape
7. Mt. Sawtooth Protected Landscape
8. Mt. Masaraga Protected Landscape
9. Panaon Island Protected Seascape
10. Mt. Gutom Protected Landscape
11. Sultan Naga Dimaporo Protected Landscape and Seascape

We have just one Christmas wish: legislation that will preserve our precious environment and help us in our battle against the climate crisis.

This scholarship program is a highly specialized internship program designed to instill and develop in the trainees an appreciation and eagerness for organic agriculture and eventually adopt it as their source of income. It differs from other scholarship programs which provided tuition fee and stipend only. The program provides start-up support and mentoring for the implementation of their business plan. Thus, empowering the youth to become organic agripreneur.

LOOK: The girls came to our office and expressed their desire to play volleyball. In response, we looked for their future coach and helped with sports equipment. We did this with our ability and desire to help others. We launched them as a B97C Volleyball Club organization. We saw their goal and dream to play volleyball. So here they are!

We express our gratitude to the City Government of Tacloban and Hiraya Tacloban for the help of sports equipment for them. In the photo we can see that this is not our barangay they are rehearsing.

Since our Cabalawan Covered Court is under renovation, we have scheduled and sought permission from NHA Leyte 1 to use the multipurpose covered court, Ridge View Park. Unfortunately, some basketball players did not respect the document on the use of the facility intended for the club during their practice and decided to continue in the nearby barangay.

Hopefully, their next rehearsal will be at the right venue in the right place soon.

On August 13, 2022, GlobalPort Tacloban led the Tree Planting Activity in collaboration with Forestry Mr. Marito Barillo, CENRO, and of Barangay 97 Cabalawan Tacloban City thru Brgy. Chairman and SK Chairman.

In this initiative, the youth responded to the organizer's call for volunteers, and because SK and the youth of Barangay 97 are in environmental, climate change, etc. SK and the Youth are grateful for the cooperation of CENRO.

Through the efforts of the SK Council and Environmental Advocates, the youth of other barangays are asking us to invite them to our initiatives and long-term projects that they are interested in helping and becoming members of the organization.
