RPOC-8, ITINUTULAK ANG MAS MAAGANG PAG-IWAS SA KARAHASAN SA MGA PAARALAN

Itinutulak ng Regional Peace and Order Council-8 (RPOC-8) ang mas maagap na pag-iwas sa karahasan sa mga paaralan sa pamamagitan ng maagang pagtukoy sa mga banta at panganib.

Sa third quarter meeting ng konseho, sinabi ni Hands Off Our Children Inc. Eastern Visayas Chairperson retired Lt. Col. Mario Jose Chico na mahalagang palakasin ang koordinasyon ng mga paaralan, pulisya, magulang at komunidad upang maagapan ang posibleng insidente.

Binigyang-diin naman ni RPOC-8 Chairperson at Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez ang pagpapalakas ng school safety measures at community-based interventions, habang nananatiling handa ang pulisya sa agarang pagresponde sa anumang insidente.

A Safe Campus does not happen by chance, it is built through leadership, preparedness, and shared responsibility.

The Hands Off Our Children Movement, Inc. – Eastern Visayas Chapter proudly stands with Leyte Normal University in its trailblazing initiative to strengthen the preparedness of educational institutions against both natural and human-induced hazards.

Every school deserves to be a place where students can learn, teachers can teach, and parents can have peace of mind. Achieving this requires more than policies, it demands collaboration among educational institutions, government agencies, law enforcement, emergency responders, parents, civil society, and the private sector.

Campus security is not solely the responsibility of schools. It is a shared responsibility. It is a shared commitment. It is a shared mission.

Let us move beyond awareness and take action. Let us build a culture of prevention, preparedness, and resilience, because protecting our children is not optional; it is our collective duty.

Statement of the Hands Off Our Children Movement, Inc. – Eastern Visayas Chapter

The Hands Off Our Children Movement, Inc. expresses its deepest sorrow and heartfelt condolences to the families, loved ones, and the entire community affected by the tragic shooting incident at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City.

No child, teacher, or school personnel should ever have to experience violence in a place meant for learning, growth, and hope. Schools must remain sanctuaries of safety where dreams are nurtured, not spaces where fear and tragedy take root.

This heartbreaking incident is a painful reminder that protecting our children requires a Whole-of-Nation Approach. Ensuring school safety is not the responsibility of one institution alone; it is a shared duty among families, schools, local government units, law enforcement agencies, civil society organizations, and the community at large.

We call on all concerned sectors to act decisively, to strengthen school security measures, improve mental health and psychosocial support systems, intensify violence prevention programs, and foster stronger collaboration in identifying and addressing threats before they escalate.
