Philippine Red Cross-Leyte Chapter in action!

The PRC-Leyte Chapter, together with the PRC-Leyte Isabel Branch, conducted an emergency meeting together with staff, volunteers, and Red Cross Youth members in preparation for the possible impact of Typhoon “Tino” in the Visayas region.

The meeting focused on the latest updates on the typhoon’s track and the readiness of essential equipment for immediate response operations. Focal persons were also assigned for key areas, Logistics, EMS, Welfare, DMS, Reporting, Health, and Fleet Management — to ensure a coordinated and efficient response.

We were honored to have Hon. Reymund Balagapo, PRC Leyte Chapter Board of Director, City Councilor of Tacloban, and Chair of the Committee on DRRM, who shared valuable insights and support in strengthening our preparedness efforts.

After the meeting, the team immediately prepared response equipment and deployed volunteers to check on the local ground status and coordinate with communities. Meanwhile, volunteers from the PRC-Isabel Branch visited nearby evacuation centers to conduct blood pressure consultations and health check-ups for the evacuees.

As we continue our preparedness efforts, we remind everyone to stay alert and be prepared. Keep monitoring official updates, secure your homes, and most importantly, report any emergencies or incidents in your area to your local authorities or the nearest Philippine Red Cross Chapter.

Always First, Always Ready, Always There.

In celebration of International Coastal Clean-Up Day 2025 today, the Philippine Red Cross-Leyte Chapter, RED CROSS YOUTH proudly took part in the city-wide initiative led by the City Youth Development Office of Tacloban, with the theme: “Clean Seas Against Climate Crisis: Tayo ang Solusyon.”

Alongside various youth organizations, our volunteers actively participated in a coastal clean-up and were able to collect six sacks of waste, a significant step toward protecting our oceans and raising awareness about the impact of pollution on our environment and climate.

This meaningful effort serves as a reminder that real change begins with small, consistent actions. As young humanitarians, we stand committed not only to cleaning up but also to educating our communities on the importance of reducing single-use plastics and practicing the proper disposal of trash and garbage. These everyday habits are key to preserving our environment for future generations.
