The Red Cross Youth Leyte Chapter stands in solidarity with the students, faculty, staff, families, and the entire community of Ateneo de Zamboanga University following the tragic school mass shooting incident that occurred earlier today.

We are deeply saddened by the loss, fear, and pain brought by this incident. No student should have to feel unsafe in a place meant for learning, growth, and hope.

As Red Cross Youth volunteers, we reaffirm our commitment to promoting a culture of safety, compassion, preparedness, and respect for human life. In moments of tragedy, we stand together—not only to extend our deepest sympathies, but also to remind everyone that support, care, and humanity must prevail.

Our thoughts and prayers are with those who were affected, especially the victims and their families. May those who are grieving find strength and comfort, and may the injured receive the care and support they need.

𝙃𝙄𝙂𝙃𝙇𝙄𝙂𝙃𝙏𝙎 | 3𝙧𝙙 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙝 𝘼𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙡𝙮 2026

Last August 1, 2026, Red Cross Youth leaders from different councils across the Philippine Red Cross Leyte Chapter gathered at the Leyte National High School AV Hall for the 3rd Chapter Youth Assembly.

The assembly highlighted the 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹'𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, showcasing the dedication, and initiatives of our RCY councils throughout their term. It also marked an important milestone with the 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀, who are now entrusted to lead and serve the RCY community across the chapter.

To all the councils who attended and actively participated, thank you for your commitment, enthusiasm, and continued support in strengthening the Red Cross Youth movement in Leyte.

Last July 17, the Philippine Red Cross Leyte Chapter successfully celebrated the 10th National CPR Day, bringing together Red Cross Youth members from different councils, Red Cross 143 volunteers, partners, and friends in a shared commitment to promoting lifesaving skills and emergency preparedness.
