The UAP San Juanico Chapter held its 1st General Membership Meeting last Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Ocho Seafood and Grill, Tacloban City.

The event was spearheaded by our Chapter President, Ar. Divina Buñales, together with our Chapter Vice President for Operations, Ar. Angie Balasta-Peru, and Chapter Vice President for Programs and Development, Ar. Edmar Elcarte. Present also in the event are our other chapter officers, and chapter members.

HEADS UP TO ALL PROFESSIONALS WORKING IN THE GOVERNMENT!

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. signed into law the New Government Procurement Act (Republic Act 12009) which updates RA 9184 or the Government Procurement Reform Act and streamlines the procurement process to 60 days. The new law also standardizes procurement forms and institutionalizes electronic procurement which will offer greater flexibility for government agencies in choosing how to best acquire goods and services.

"The New Government Procurement Act is a game-changing piece of legislation curated to enhance the existing procurement systems under the 21-year-old Republic Act (RA) No. 9184 through (i) fit- for-purpose modalities to achieve value for money, (ii) strengthen procurement planning of procuring entities with mandatory market scoping and strategies to be used as tools in doing so, (iii) modernize procurement processes with the use of emerging technologies and innovative solutions, (iv) institutionalize sustainable public procurement principles and practices with environmental, social and economic considerations, life cycle, gender parity, poverty alleviation, and fair opportunities to vulnerable and marginalized sectors, (v) enhance transparency and ensure greater accountability with open government, participatory procurement and use of beneficial ownership information in procurement, and (vi) professionalize procurement practitioners to foster a skilled and competent workforce dedicated to excellence in government procurement." - gppb.gov.ph
