🗞️The Fourth Year- Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW) practicumers successfully conducted a two-day Community Case Conference on April 15–17, 2026, at the KSU Dagupan Campus, CLASS Building – Speech Laboratory Room. The activity aimed to strengthen students’ competencies in case analysis, documentation, and professional practice, highlighting their ability to critically present and defend their case outputs before a panel of evaluators.

The conference was graced by esteemed evaluators: Ms. Judith Kay G. Sangdaan, Ms. Agnes L. Bagsalay, Ms. Zyra Kertsen N. Daluping, Ms. Alexa Mae A. Barrera, Ms. Azraa Leigh Accad-Pittong, Ms. Novelyn B. Alucod, Mr. Jay France D. Taclawan and Ms. Carla Nonileene L. Leo. Their insights and expertise contributed significantly to enriching the learning experience of the practicumers, ensuring academic rigor and professional growth.

📍EDUCATE, EMPOWER, AND PROTECT: Social Work in Action, Enhancing Awareness on Teenage Pregnancy Prevention, Community Protection, and Anti-Drug Initiatives✅

🗞️ On April 6, 2026, fourth-year Social Work practicum students facilitated a seminar entitled “Educate, Empower, and Protect: Social Work in Action – Enhancing Awareness on Teenage Pregnancy Prevention, Community Protection, and Anti-Drug Initiatives: Engaging Out-of-School Youth and Promoting Environmental Involvement for a Safe and Drug-Free Community” at the Liwan East Gymnasium. The event gathered out-of-school youth and various community members, offering them essential information and practical guidance to support informed and responsible decision-making in their daily lives.

The seminar featured a series of informative sessions led by invited resource speakers, including Dr. Freda B. Lim, a guidance counselor from Kalinga State University – Rizal Campus; Ma’am Lovely Angadol, HRH; Ma’am Christine E. Caleda, a midwife; and Sir Jerald Paul Zamora, a Public Health Nurse from the Rizal Rural Health Unit. Their discussions focused on teenage pregnancy prevention and general health awareness. In addition, representatives from the Rizal Municipal Police Station provided insights on community protection and anti-drug efforts, addressing related concerns such as gambling and alcohol use within the locality.

This activity was carried out in partnership with the Barangay Local Government Unit of Liwan East and the Sangguniang Kabataan of Liwan East. It was organized in response to the pressing issues identified within the barangay, particularly those affecting the youth and the broader community.

Through these collective efforts, the seminar aimed to educate, empower, and safeguard the youth by strengthening their awareness, equipping them with practical knowledge to mitigate risks, and encouraging their active participation in fostering a safer, drug-free, and responsible community.

🗞️ On March 27, 2026, a community-based activity titled “Leading with Purpose, Responding with Care: Building Leadership and First Aid Skills in the Community” was conducted at Barangay Lucog, Tabuk City, Kalinga.

The activity featured Atty. Zorayda Mia Wacnang, who shared valuable insights on purpose-driven leadership and community engagement. This was complemented by a hands-on first aid training facilitated by Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) personnel—FO1 Jade Anne Castillo, FO1 Jezza Mae Bog-acon, and FO1 Rowel Gay-ong—covering essential life-saving skills and proper use of fire extinguishers.

The initiative allowed participants to apply their knowledge while promoting preparedness, compassion, and community responsibility. The organizers extend their sincere gratitude to the Barangay Lucog officials, SK Council, and residents for their active support from the Training Needs Assessment (TNA) to the implementation and evaluation of the activity.

This program highlights the importance of leadership and collaboration in building safer and more responsive communities.

📍Project Kabalikat: Strong Communities, Substance-Free Future✅️

🗞On March 21, 2026, Social Work practicum students conducted a seminar titled “Project Kabalikat: Strong Communities, Substance-Free Future” at the Barangay Hall, Mapaco, Pinukpuk, Kalinga. The activity gathered community members, barangay officials, youth participants, and parents who actively engaged in discussions and awareness-building activities.

The seminar featured discussions from resource speakers FO2 Kim J. Aliño and PMSg Roger M. Siwal, who shared insights on fire safety awareness, crime prevention, and the harmful effects of substance abuse, particularly focusing on drugs, alcohol, and gambling, and their impact on individuals, families, and the community.

The seminar was conducted in partnership with the Barangay Local Government Unit of Mapaco. The activity addressed the community’s top three concerns through informative discussions, open forums, and practical strategies aimed at prevention, intervention, and community empowerment.
