Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Paglajag Library Extension and Barangay Anajawan Water System Installation

To address the “good problem” that we are facing in Paglajag—the continuous growth of our organization and the increasing number of active children participating in our programs—we are excited to officially break ground for the Paglajag Library Extension.

Over the years, our library has become a vibrant space for learning, creativity, and community engagement. As more children join our activities and as our programs and income-generating projects continue to expand, our current facility can no longer accommodate the growing needs of our beneficiaries. This library extension will provide a larger and more conducive space where children can learn, grow, and thrive.

This project is made possible through the generous support of the JVRF, through Gawad Kalinga, with the support of the LGU General Luna, Siargao, Surigao del Norte. We also extend our gratitude to Emcor for being one of our valued partners. Special thanks as well to Kuya Rhynan Consigna and Architect Jia of Siargao Green Artisans helping bring this vision to life through their thoughtful design and planning.

At the same time, we are equally grateful to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Barangay Anajawan Water System Installation, a project that will provide better access to clean and reliable water for the community. This initiative is generously funded through the support of Father Ben Nebres.

We would also like to recognize the leadership of the BLGU of Anajawan led by Rosebelt Lim, who has been instrumental in leading and overseeing the project to ensure that the construction will be completed with quality, integrity, and excellence.

Today the two infrastructure projects represents our collective commitment to investing in education, community development, and a better future for the children and families of Paglajag and Anajawan.

📚🎒 Back-to-School Blessings for Our Paglajag Babies 🎒📚

As we prepare for the opening of classes this June 8, 2026, we are deeply grateful to our partner, Gawad Kalinga, for providing school supplies for our beloved Paglajag Babies.

These school supplies are a symbol of appreciation for the children who have consistently shown responsibility, kindness, and a genuine willingness to help our island community. Through their active participation and positive attitude, they have become wonderful examples of what it means to care for others and contribute to the common good.

As a reward for their good behavior and dedication, we are delighted to support them as they begin another school year. We hope these supplies inspire them to continue learning, dreaming, and striving for a brighter future.

Finally, the future of every Paglajag members is secured! 🎓 Through one of the biggest milestones in the Paglajag Financial Literacy Program and the monthly Creative and Social Awareness Workshop (CSAW) of Calls Over Ridges Philippines, we proudly announce the opening of College Savings Accounts for our island children.

In partnership with BDO Network Bank PH, we truly find ways to safeguard the dreams of our young learners. This initiative is more than just about saving—it is about building hope, empowering families, and ensuring that education is within reach for every child in Paglajag. 🌊👩‍🎓👨‍🎓

Malaki ang aming pagbati at taos-pusong pagpupugay sa’yo, Kuya Romar, sa ipinakita mong husay, tapang, at dedikasyon sa Palarong Pambansa 2026! 💙🏅

Maaaring hindi mo man agad nasungkit ang inaasam mong medalya ngayong taon, ngunit tandaan mong hindi iyon sukatan ng iyong halaga bilang isang atleta at inspirasyon sa aming lahat. Higit pa sa medalya ang iyong naabot, sapagkat nakagawa ka na ng kasaysayan bilang kauna-unahang Palarong Pambansa qualifier ng ating mahal na Isla Anajawan. Isa pa lamang iyong napakalaking karangalan na hindi matutumbasan ng anumang medalya.🫶

Hindi naging madali ang iyong paglalakbay. Mula sa mahahabang oras ng ensayo, pagod at sakripisyo, hanggang sa paglaban sa lungkot at pangungulila habang malayo sa pamilya at unang beses na manatili sa siyudad nang mahigit dalawang buwan — lahat ng iyon ay iyong tiniis para lamang maabot ang iyong pangarap bilang isang atleta. Ang iyong kwento ay naging napakalaking inspirasyon sa kapwa kabataan ng ating isla upang mangarap, magsikap, at lumaban din sa buhay.💪

Kahanga-hanga ang iyong determinasyon, disiplina, at tibay ng loob. Ipinakita mo sa amin na ang tunay na tagumpay ay hindi lamang nasusukat sa pagkapanalo, kundi sa tapang na magpatuloy kahit gaano kahirap ang laban.

These school supplies will be given as rewards to the Top 10 Paglajag babies who consistently spend time reading and learning in our Tun-anan sa Isla Anajawan. Through this simple recognition, we hope to encourage more children to develop a genuine love for reading and to continue making the library a place of growth, curiosity, and learning.🏆🎖️👏🤓

Our journey toward fulfilling our dream of securing the education of every child on the island starts now! 🌊📚📒💰🏧

Through the application and opening of the Paglajag College Savings Fund, we are taking the first steps toward building a brighter and more secure future for our children — because we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to dream, learn, and succeed.

We also extend our heartfelt gratitude for the partnership with BDO Unibank, which truly lives out its commitment to “We Find Ways.” Through their support, our Paglajag members were given access to Young Savers accounts and other financial services that help promote education security for our children, while taking into consideration the unique needs and situation of our island community.

Because of this initiative, island kids no longer need to travel all the way to the mainland just to access these important services. Instead, the services were brought directly to the island — making them more accessible, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of the community.

This is only the beginning of a greater journey toward a safer, brighter, and more hopeful future for every island child. 💙✨💛

In line with our long-standing goal at Paglajag to nurture model, self-sustaining youth development organizations—ones that can inspire and be replicated not only in island communities but also across mainland areas—we are truly grateful for the opportunity to share our Paglajag Program Initiatives with the Sangguniang Kabataan leaders of General Luna. 🌀🏝️👫

This meaningful engagement was made possible through the support of our Municipal DILG Head, Sir Jacky Mellorin, whose commitment to youth empowerment has allowed us to connect with and inspire fellow youth leaders. We deeply appreciate the openness and enthusiasm of the SK leaders, and we are hopeful that this will spark stronger collaboration and encourage more youth communities in General Luna to take an active role in shaping their own development.💁‍♂️

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Ms. Jolina, the Municipal Civil Society Organizations (CSO) Accreditation Officer, for her invaluable assistance in guiding us through our next step—our organization’s accreditation. Her support has been instrumental in helping us move forward toward strengthening Paglajag’s impact and sustainability.🫶

We are grateful for the continued trust and support of everyone involved, and we look forward to building lasting partnerships that will empower more young leaders and further strengthen youth communities across the municipality.🤝
