Today, we proudly celebrate a meaningful milestone for the Rotaract Club of Central Surigao as our President-Elect 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗷𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗼 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗱𝗮 and Secretary-Elect 𝗔𝗿𝗷𝗮𝘆 𝗔𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗼𝗻 successfully completed the 𝗥𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿 (𝗥𝗟𝗟𝗦) 𝗧𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗺 2026. 🎉

In a gathering of emerging leaders from across the district, they chose to step forward—not just to represent our club, but to invest in the kind of leadership that listens, adapts, and inspires. Every session attended, every idea exchanged, and every connection built is a seed planted for a stronger, more impactful year ahead. This is how transformation begins—not in grand gestures alone, but in the quiet decision to keep showing up and becoming better for the people we serve.

This achievement is a testament to the continued commitment of 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗼, 𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘆 𝗟𝘂𝗴𝗼, whose leadership ensures that our future leaders are equipped, empowered, and supported. 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐖𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡: 𝐀 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐖𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐰 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐎𝐰𝐧 𝐄𝐲𝐞𝐬 🧵🌿

Every day, 𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐮𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬—discarded, forgotten, and left to become waste.

But behind every piece of fabric…
𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝.

This project was never random.

Through a community needs assessment conducted by one of our own Rotaractors—, we saw both a challenge and an opportunity:

Rising textile costs… and skilled manahiays who simply needed support to keep going.

And from that—this project was born.

Earlier today, April 25, 2026, represented by our Rotaractors, in partnership with the JJC Surigao Ironwood, went to Capalayan not just to deliver collected textiles—but to personally witness what happens when “waste” is placed in the right hands.

𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐰… 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐥𝐬𝐞.

Inside their workspace, we saw their machines, their working stations, and their actual process—real, raw, and inspiring. The manahiays were already at work—cutting, sorting, sewing. Every movement was careful. Every stitch, intentional.

𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞.
𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝.

As we handed over the textiles, it became even clearer—

A total of 120kg of textiles were distributed.
Materials that were once meant for landfills…
are now being utilized and transformed.

Into basahans.
Into pot holders.
Into rugs that will once again find purpose in homes.

𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒐𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒅… 𝒊𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒃𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒓𝒆𝒃𝒐𝒓𝒏.

And these are not just local products.

These same manahiays supply basahans and sewn goods from Surigao to Butuan, Dipolog, Siargao, even reaching Davao and Cagayan.

Quietly. Consistently. For years.

𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐛𝐢𝐬𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐤𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐬𝐚 𝐁𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐧 𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐚𝐧 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨

In celebration of Rotary Week, the Rotary Club of Central Surigao conducted a meaningful Medical Mission dedicated to promoting the health, dignity, and well-being of the community of San Benito. This outreach reflects our steadfast commitment to Service Above Self by ensuring that essential healthcare services are accessible to families and individuals who need them most.

Through the collective efforts of the Rotary Club of Central Surigao, in partnership with the Rotaract Club of Central Surigao and Caraga Regional Hospital, the Local Government Unit of San Benito, Philippine Army Reservists, and the Siargao Island Medical Center, this initiative became more than just a day of service—it became a celebration of compassion, volunteerism, and community solidarity. By working hand in hand, we were able to deliver care, share knowledge on health and hygiene, and create moments of joy for children and families alike.

The Rotary & Rotaract Clubs of Central Surigao also distributed more than 120+ hygiene kits to the young children of San Benito.

Today, the Rotary Club of Central Surigao proudly celebrates a leader whose term was defined by purpose and compassion. As our Hope-Creating President, Past President Mon led with vision, sincerity, and an unwavering belief that even the smallest act of service can spark meaningful change.

His leadership reminded us that hope is not merely spoken, but lived through action. Through every project, partnership, and initiative, he strengthened the spirit of Rotary and inspired members to serve with deeper commitment and heart.

On December 10, 2025, something quietly magical unfolded at Kody’s Resto-Bar.

One by one, 𝐑𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬, 𝐋𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐬, 𝐑𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬, 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐚 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭, 𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐑𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐊𝐢𝐝 began arriving — each carrying not just the weight of a long year of service, but also the joy of coming together as one family. And somehow, as the lights warmed the room, all the stress, exhaustion, and worries melted away. What remained was laughter… connection… and a sense of belonging that only Rotary could create.

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐨 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥.

The night felt like reading a familiar storybook where every chapter holds a memory:
