Rotary Club of Surigao Midtown Jewels is grateful to join the Rotary International District 3860 PELS-SELS/DTLS CLLS 2026 at The Farm, Carpenter Hills, Koronadal City in preparation for the next Rotary Year with President-Elect, Maria Corazon M. Arevalo, and our club directors.
For three meaningful days, we learned, shared, and built lasting friendships with fellow Rotarians from Area 3G—strengthening our purpose in service.
As the event ends, we head home inspired and ready to fulfill our commitments, living out “Service Above Self” in our communities🥰

Service with purpose💚
The Rotary Club of Surigao Midtown Jewels, in partnership with Metrobank Foundation and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, held a Rotary Outreach Care & Learning Day with the Mamanwa tribe in Sitio Tagbasingan, Barangay Mat-i, Surigao City.

This outreach highlights two of Rotary’s Areas of Focus:
🏥 Disease Prevention & Treatment
📚 Basic Education & Literacy
Sunday was filled with service, smiles, and shared learning.
Activities included:
✅ Distribution of food packs and hygiene kits
✅ Fun coloring and learning activities for children

Small acts of kindness create ripples of change.

03.06.26: The RC Surigao Midtown Jewels endeavor to do more than community service. We also promote health and wellness through dance. The goal is to help the members stay active, feel happy, and build a stronger community.

For this week’s meeting, we Rotarian sisters opted to hold it at Hingas Lifestyle dance studio. After the meeting, we had our dance session led by a trained dance instructor, Ron Asilum.

Indeed, it was a fruitful and an enjoyable night for all.🥰🌺🌺🌺

03.01.2026: In a bid to bolster resilience and deliver essential services, the Rotary Club of Surigao Midtown Jewels headed by President Welsa Fancovilla Leyson, conducted a ROTARY WEEK focused on Peace Building and Conflict Prevention; Maternal & Child Health; & Disease Prevention and Treatment

The activity occurred which covered fifty(50) households in a community that has endured security tensions which curtailed regular humanitarian access. Discussions on women and child’s rights and protection were iniatiated by a Rotarian member, Atty. Stella Cabahug.

Likewise, Rotarian Past President, Dra Annabeth Navato Fortaleza, rendered her free eye check-up with free eyeglasses to Mamanwa mothers.

***Rotarians of Area 3G’s Relief Effort Aid approximate 232 Families in Surigao City Evacuations***

A joint relief operation led by the Rotary Club of Surigao Midtown Jewels, under President Welsa Leyson, and the Rotary Club of Surigao City, with Asst. Governor Ted Amores and President Joed Abarca, distributed aid to 232 families affected by fire across three evacuation sites last November 28, 2025.

Rotarians in partnership with Surigao Chamber of Commerce, Palma Superstore and Visayan Hardware/Go Family, provided essential items for the community kitchen, including burner sets with LPG tanks, as well as blankets, basic toiletries, and blue water jugs.

10/26/2025: Pink October 2025: A Celebration of Service and Solidarity.
We're thrilled to share the highlights of our Pink October 2025 celebration, a testament to the power of community and service above self.
Day 1, Saturday, October 25: We kicked off the celebration with an electrifying Zumba at the Boulevard with the Kembotitas, Wency JCI and the 4 clubs of Area 3G, Rotary Club of Surigao City, Rotary Club of Metro Surigao, Rotary Club of Central Surigao and the lead club, Rotary Club of Surigao Midtown Jewels. Delicious Malungay Pan de Sal was perfect after the sweat-filled Zumba session. The night continued with the Pinktober, a meeting and dance session in Celebration of October birthday celebrants. the night was filled with laughter and camaraderie.
Day 2, Sunday, October 26: A motorcade rolled out at 8:00 AM from Boulevard headed to Sitio Brazil, Brgy. Mat-i for a symposium of early detection of breast cancer. It was followed by feeding program and turnover of school supplies and coconut seedlings. The activity was made possible in partnership with Caraga Regional Hospital, PhilCoco and the sponsoring Rotarians.

09/28/25: Rotary Club of Surigao Midtown Jewels headed by our president, Welsa Fancovilla Leyson, together with three other Rotary Clubs of Area 3G gathered in the classroom of Lope R. Ruiz Memorial Elementary School of Sitio Brazil, Brgy Mat-I after planting coconut trees in the community. With joy and excitement, we served warm meals to the eager children, filling their plates with nutritious food.

It was a day of connection and care, where we shared not just food, but also hope and support for the bright future of these young ones.🥰

We began the day with a sense of purpose that went beyond a routine volunteer project.🙏🥰🙏

09/28/25: The Rotary Club of Surigao Midtown Jewels headed by our President Welsa Fancovilla Leyson, along with three other clubs under the leadership of Assistant Governor Ted Amores, had a joint activity this morning united by a common goal: To plant coconut trees and to reach Brgy. Brazil in Mat-I, a place that many of us, Surigaonons have avoided for years due to its difficult history.

About 90% of the Rotarians who attended the activity were visiting the place for the first time. For generations, the area had borne the weight of conflict, drawing lines between rival factions and making ordinary travel a risk. Even then, we planted 100 dwarf coconut trees with the hope of laying the groundwork for a future shade and shelter for the community.

We returned to the city with new stories to tell and a renewed commitment to stand with the community that have endured so much. The journey reminded us that in this lifetime places like Brgy Brazil has the chance to change its narrative —one tree, one shared hope at a time….as we, Rotarians UNITE FOR GOOD.🥰

08/23/2023: "Rotary Give for Life" shines bright! Kudos to the Criminology students of Northeastern Mindanao Colleges for donating 80 bags of blood during the Area 3G bloodletting event. Every bag can save up tp three lives, making your selfless act truly life-changing. Thank you for spreading the love and hope through your generosity.
