August 12, 2026 | 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐒𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

Successfully conducted the Sight Saving Month Celebration with the theme, “See Clearly, Live Fully: Promoting Early Screening and Better Eye Health,” alongside the National Disability Rights Week (NDRW) celebration themed “Rights First, Legislation Forward: Strategic Action for Equal Participation and Inclusive Development.”

The celebration was made possible through the collaboration of the Ministry of Health–BARMM (MOH-BARMM), Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) of Basilan, and Municipal Health Office (MHO) of Sumisip.

The activities aimed to raise awareness on the importance of early eye screening, proper eye care, disability rights, inclusion, accessibility, and equal participation in the community. Through these initiatives, participants were encouraged to prioritize their eye health, recognize the rights and capabilities of persons with disabilities, and contribute to building a more inclusive, accessible, and empowered community for all.

August 6, 2026 | 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐎𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 – 𝟐𝐧𝐝 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭

The 2nd Visit of the Oral Health Care Services was successfully conducted at Sumisip Rural Health Unit RHU, Tumahubong, Sumisip, Basilan on August 6, 2026. The activity aimed to provide accessible oral health services to community members and promote awareness on the importance of proper oral hygiene and regular dental care.

During the activity, the health team provided oral health care services, including dental assessment, oral health education, and other appropriate oral health interventions. Participants were also given information on proper tooth brushing, maintaining good oral hygiene, and preventing common dental problems.

A total of 54 individuals were served and recorded as accomplishments during the 2nd visit. The activity was successfully implemented through the cooperation and participation of the health team, beneficiaries, and community members.

The activity contributed to strengthening oral health promotion and preventive care in the community. It also encouraged individuals and families to practice proper oral hygiene and seek regular dental consultation for better overall health.

July 30, 2026 | 𝐃𝐫𝐮𝐠 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐒𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐮𝐦

The Provincial Government of Basilan, in partnership with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), successfully conducted a Drug Awareness Symposium for the fisherfolk sector on July 30, 2026, at the Municipal Hall, Sumisip Municipality.

The activity was supported by the Sumisip Rural Health Unit (RHU) and the Local Government Unit of Sumisip, through the Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC), as part of the continuing efforts to strengthen community awareness and promote a drug-free and healthy society.

The active participation of the fisherfolk sector highlights the importance of community involvement in the prevention of illegal drugs. Through increased awareness, education, and shared responsibility, we aim to empower every sector to help protect our communities and coastal waters from the harmful effects of illegal drugs.

The Sumisip RHU extends its sincere appreciation to the Provincial Government of Basilan, PDEA, the LGU of Sumisip, MADAC, and all participants for their commitment and support in advancing drug prevention initiatives and fostering safer, healthier, and more resilient communities.

The Sumisip Rural Health Unit (RHU), in partnership with the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE), successfully conducted the School-Based Deworming Program in various elementary schools across the Sumisip North Cluster.

This initiative is part of the government’s continuing commitment to prevent and control soil-transmitted helminth infections among school-aged children, promoting improved health, nutrition, school attendance, and academic performance.

The Sumisip RHU extends its sincere appreciation to the MBHTE officials, school heads, teachers, parents, Barangay Health Workers, and all stakeholders for their invaluable support and cooperation in the successful implementation of this program. Through strong collaboration, we remain committed to safeguarding the health and well-being of every learner and fostering healthier school communities.

The Sumisip Rural Health Unit (RHU), in partnership with the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education successfully conducted the School-Based Deworming Program at Sumisip Agro-Fisheries High School and Buli-Buli Alternative Learning System (ALS) as part of its continuing commitment to protect the health and well-being of learners.

The activity aims to prevent and control soil-transmitted helminth infections among school-aged children and ALS learners, contributing to improved health, better nutrition, increased school participation, and enhanced learning outcomes.

The Sumisip RHU extends its sincere appreciation to the school administrators, ALS facilitators, teachers, parents, Barangay Health Workers, and all stakeholders for their invaluable support and cooperation in ensuring the successful implementation of this program. Through our collective efforts, we continue to promote a healthier, safer, and more conducive learning environment for every learner.

The Sumisip Rural Health Unit (RHU), in collaboration with the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education, successfully conducted the School-Based Deworming Program among pupils from various elementary schools in the Sumisip East Cluster.

This initiative forms part of the government’s continuing efforts to reduce the prevalence of soil-transmitted helminth infections among school-aged children, contributing to improved health, nutrition, school attendance, and academic performance.

The Sumisip Rural Health Unit (RHU) extends its sincere appreciation to the school heads, teachers, parents, Barangay Health Workers, and all partners whose support and cooperation contributed to the successful implementation of this activity.
