The Red Cross Youth (RCY) Chronicles of ACCESS Campus conducted its 2nd Youth Volunteer Formation Course (YVFC) on March 27โ€“28, 2026, at SKSU-ACCESS Campus, with the theme โ€œHeroes in Training: Ready to Serve, Lead, and Save Lives."

The two-day event focused on developing leadership skills, promoting humanitarian values, and preparing participants for community service and emergency response.

The event opened with a welcome address by RCY Chronicles President Novy Sheen Dela Cruz, followed by remarks from Assistant RCY Adviser Eden Ronald Tapang, RN, who emphasized the campus' commitment to empowering young as proactive agents of change.

An inspirational message was delivered by Dr. Jayson A. Falle, Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) Director, encouraging participants to go beyond themselves and respond to the needs of others with compassion and responsibility.

Meanwhile, SK PRC Chapter Administrator Alaudin Masabpi, RN, who shared his personal journey as a nurse, and highlighted humanitarian efforts across Mindanao.

The program featured lectures, billeting, and breakout sessions aimed at enhancing participantsโ€™ knowledge and teamwork.

On the second day, activities centered on team-building and simulations. Participants were grouped into teams and assigned to different stations, where they demonstrated proper first aid procedures and applied techniques in handling emergencies, such as accidents, injuries, and fractures.

RCY Vice President Rickshan P. Herrera, who led the demonstrations, emphasized the importance of serving with compassion, dedication, and commitment.

In an interview, President Novy Sheen Dela Cruz, said the training was successfully conducted, with all activities carried out and participants actively learning and applying new skills while officers, alongside their advisers, worked collaboratively to overcome minor challenges.

"Nakakapagod, nakakagutom, at kulang sa tulog, pero all the sacrifices and efforts were worth it. Ginawa namin ang lahat hindi lang para matapos ang program, kundi para masigurong meaningful at impactful ang experience ng bawat participant. And seeing the outcome, masasabi namin na sulit lahat ng pagod," Dela Cruz said.

The program concluded with the election of a new set of officers, followed by awarding of certificates, the RCY Pledge, and a photo opportunity.

Itโ€™s happening. Anchored on the theme, โ€œHeroes in Training: Ready to Serve, Lead, and Save Lives,โ€ the SKSU-ACCESS Red Cross Youth Council will hold a Youth Volunteer Formation Council Training on March 27โ€“28, 2026.

This two-day event aims to raise awareness among students, particularly participants from different colleges who completed the online registration, on the crucial role of Basic Life Support (BLS). It also seeks to ignite the spirit of volunteerism and strengthen leadership capabilities while upholding the Seven Fundamental Principles of the Philippine Red Cross.
