OUR STORY:
is a good example of how a group of individuals from the region of Mindanao got together and initiated a non profit Islamic charity organization that aims to make a huge difference in people’s life by commencing small acts of kindness at a time with no expectation of reward or recognition from people, safe in the knowledge that one day God (Allah) would reward them tremend
ously.
~The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever relieves a believer’s distress of distressful aspects of this world. Allah will rescue him from a difficulty of the difficulties of the Hereafter. Whoever alleviates [the situation of] one in dire straits who cannot repay his debt, Allah will alleviate his lot in both this world and in the Hereafter. Whoever conceals [the faults of] a Muslim, Allah will conceal [his faults] in this life and the Hereafter.” (Muslim)~
OUR BEGINNING:
The notion of having family legacy began during Ramadhan 1443 2022 when two cousins who were miles away from each other chatting online thought about doing charity works, a something good to leave behind a "sadaqah jariyah" a good act of kindness in the name of Islam to which we could pass on to our next generation. An inspiration for our future kids and for all people in the Islamic community aspiring to become better Muslims. After discussing everything relevant to our purpose, we searched for places where we could donate, we asked from people and organizations, masjids and madrasahs if they still have slots or nights available so that we could sponsor their iftar meals. Since it was the holy month of Ramadhan, many people and orgs were as eager as we were and we felt like in a race because most of whom we asked appointment with were already full on schedule but we managed to find recipients and secured appointments to seven different places, and in the pursuit of kindness, thus began our first charity project, a Sponsor an Iftar Meal. While preparing for our first project, all family members who volunteered were all excited! From budgeting the finances, buying groceries, appointing tasks to each members like cooking the food, preparing and packing the iftar meals and delivering our creations to the scheduled locations. We were fasting, but we felt as if we were not for the reason that we are just having so much fun simply by getting together, building a team, helping and assisting each other, cracking jokes, reminding each other for the sake of Allah, strengthening our bond as a family and so much more! More of our relatives joined the cause, we posted our first story in the social media platform to inspire followers, more donations were received, more meals were made, more people were fed and more smiles were earned (Hopefully a smile from Allah too!). On April 17 2022 we successfully handed 75 packed iftar meals at two local masjids in Brgy. Katuli Cotabato City, Philippines, successively a total of 430 meals within the last 10 days of Ramadhan 1443. Their smiles and their gratitude made our hearts warm and we felt like we won a lottery, then and there we knew that once is not enough. We hope to continue and grow the ripple effect of kindness and charity and not just during the holy months of Ramadhan. Khayriyyah Islamic Relief Organization Philippines is a non profit charity organization that aims to inspire, empower and inform the Muslim community especially the youth that small actions can have far reaching effects in their personal lives and others in this Dunya and most especially in the Akhirah. OUR VALUES:
is more than just an organization. Individuals who like to volunteer and donate are more than welcome. In the house, we are a family, blood related or not. Inclusivity and teamwork are the two main ingredients to our success. The following values shape and guide our principle:
1. ANONIMITY - “but if you conceal them [your charitable expenditures] and give them to the poor, it is better for you” [al-Baqarah 2:271]; we refrain from disclosing to the public all the donors' identities to protect their humility.
2. TRANSPARENCY – maintaining the trust, confidence and shared understanding among our organization, the charitable donors and the recipients by showing how the funds were allocated to all charity projects. We believe transparency will impact a positive review and response. We are fully committed to be a "non-profit" organization, no member/volunteer of the org is allowed to use any kinds of donations personally. All of our transactions are documented and fiscal reports are made available.
3. CONNECT – by giving their time and effort, our family, donors, volunteers are able to connect with one another through something meaningful and fun. We are able to connect our hearts with the receivers of our actions providing a soulful experience.
4. SENSE – giving and receiving feels good to both the upper hand and the lower hand. The sense of being thought of and being appreciated paves way to another pure form of love. Love for one’s self and love for others.
5. GIVE – ever been hungry? ever felt hopeless? Ironically hunger equates to hope, think of it this way: when someone is less hungry then it means more hope. Example, providing a meal gives nourishment to a hungry stomach, but in return it provides nourishment for one’s soul and faith because when you are poor, there’s no better feeling than a full stomach and a renewed faith.
6. INSPIRE – by setting a good example and sharing the initiative to people both online and offline, we are able to encourage others to join our cause or start theirs thus multiplying acts of kindness exponentially.
7. EMPATHY – by being kind, you spread awareness within you and others that you have so much to give and that you should not turn away or be indifferent from the people in need, that you should always count and share your blessings. OUR MISSION:
Our mission is to provide relief and give charity to the poor and needy. We aim to bridge the gap between people who have blessings a plenty to spend in charity and the less fortunate ones who are in need of provision. OUR VISION:
We envision our future generation working together to help the needy and alleviate hunger and deprivation. We envision our youths inspired to continue and do acts of goodwill. More importantly we envision ourselves being praised by the Almighty in this Dunya and in the Akhirah.
