APILA's "The Traveling Yogyakarta Flag" Project started 3 years ago with the positive outlook of hoisting and celebrating the vibrant Yogyakarta Flag across the different regions in Mindanao.

Fast forward to 2024, we finally traveled across the 6 regions with the aim of creativing an avenue to discuss SOGIESC concepts through Pakighinabi Sessions; provide learning process to discover the journey of the SOGIE Bill; and encourage participation and mobilization through the Signature Campaign.

Here's what happened for the past 3 years! 🏳️‍🌈

2 Days More and the Biggest and Most Colorful Summit is finally happening! 🏳️‍🌈

During the previous Pakighinabi across the 6 regions in Mindanao, the participants were given the avenue to talk about SOGIESC concepts, to learn the legal aspect of advocating for the SOGIE Bill, and to participate in the campaign of The Traveling Yogyakarta Flag by expressing their support to APILA's statement of "Diversity for a Truly Democratic and Free World." 🌎🌈

Part of their commitment as one of the Raisers of the Yogyakarta Flag is to invite more friends and allies to sign up to showcase their support for the statement.

Now, we will award the region with the most gathered signatures during the Mindanao SOGIE Equality Summit!

Who do you think will get the award? 🏆

Hello 2024, Hello 2nd to Last Travel of the Yogyakarta Flag! 🏳️‍🌈

Last January 26 and 27, The Yogyakarta Flag Traveled to Zamboanga! ✈️🏳️‍🌈

Zamboanga is the 5th pitstop of the 6 regions of Mindanao that we aim to travel across. The Community-Based Pakighinabi Session was held in Marcian Hotel, graced by representatives from empowered LGBT organizations in Zamboanga! Difficult questions were raised but hinges on the promise of collaboration and further networking! 🥳

The School-Based Pakighinabi Session was also filled with excitement as the students were keen to ask questions, share their insights, and participate int the dialogue! The internet was not with us that day but still, our participants were patient and we thank you for that! 🥰

The dialogue was free-flowing and we cannot express in words how thankful we were for making the Pakighinabi the safest space possible for all people of diverse SOGIE. 🗣🌈

Your recommendations and insights are very well noted and rest assured, will be included in our report under the EMERGE collective. 💟

To everyone who have been supporting us in this advocacy, a thousand thanks! See you in the next travels of the Yogyakarta Flag! 🏳️‍🌈

The Yogyakarta Flag Traveled to Butuan! 🚗🏳️‍🌈

Last June 23 to 24, the Yogyakarta Flag was successfully raised in Caraga Region — the 3rd pitstop of the 6 regions of Mindanao that we aim to travel across — during the School-Based and Community Based Pakighinabi Sessions of the Ateneo Public Interest and Legal Advocacy Center. 🥳

In the Community-Based Pakighinabi Session held at Almont Hotel and Inland Resort, we were overwhelmed by the variety of the organizations who joined — Ladlad Caraga, Inc., Glow CBR, Aura Kitcharao, JJC-SPUS, Amoma Caraga, Inc., Buga, Department of Agriculture, and PhilRice Philippines! 🏳️‍🌈

For the School-Based Pakighinabi, we had student-leaders from Father Saturnino Urios University, Philippine Normal University, AMA Computer Learning Center, and Northeastern Mindanao State University. Surprisingly, we also have participants who are student-instructors from Department of Education and Agusan National High School. Further, our School-Based Session and was also graced by Hon. Grace Busa. 🏫🌈
