Today marks a truly meaningful milestone as we celebrate both the retirement and birthday of our beloved Dean of the College of Engineering and Architecture, Engr. Rufo D. Durian III.

It is a day filled with gratitude, pride, and heartfelt appreciation for a man whose leadership has left a lasting legacy in our institution.

The celebration began with a touching surprise from the COEA family, a Walk of Honor that symbolized not only the years he has dedicated to the college but also the countless lives he has influenced along the way. One by one, his co-professors expressed their admiration, honoring him with words that reflected his unwavering passion, commitment, and role as a strong foundation of the College of Engineering. This memorable event was made even more special through the efforts of student leaders from various organizations, spearheaded by EASA, whose dedication mirrored the very values he instilled in all of us.

We are also deeply grateful for the message from our University President, President Geraldine F. De Jesus, who recognized Engr. Durianโ€™s remarkable contributions and congratulated him for the growth and success the university achieved under his leadership as Dean.

Above all, what stood out the most was the overwhelming gratitude from his students and fellow faculty members. Through the years, Engr. Durian has not only guided future engineers academically but has also inspired excellence, producing topnotchers and professionals who carry his teachings beyond the classroom. His legacy is not only seen in achievements but felt in the character and perseverance of every student he has mentored.

On behalf of the EASA Student Council and the entire school community, we extend our deepest thanks to you, Engr. Rufo D. Durian III. Your dedication, wisdom, and passion have shaped the future of countless engineers, and your impact will continue to resonate for generations to come.

The Sorsogon State University College of Engineering & Architecture (SorSU-CoEA), through its United Architects of the Philippines Student Auxiliary - SorSU Chapter (UAPSA-SorSU), successfully conducted its first Hard Hat and Pinning Ceremony for Bachelor of Science in Architecture students on April 9, 2026, at SorSU Social Hall, Sorsogon City Campus.

SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, commended the students participating in the hard hat and pinning ceremony, recognizing it as an important milestone. She also thanked their parents and relatives for their support and sacrifices, and reminded the students to remain grateful to all who helped them succeed.
