Empowering minds and promoting health! 🦷✨

The O.A.S.I.S Symposium (Oral Case and Adolescent Sexual Case, Injury Prevention, and Skeletal Wellness) was successfully conducted on March 4, 2025, at Solsona National High School. The event was made possible through the efforts of dedicated facilitators from Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU), who shared valuable knowledge and insights on important topics concerning oral health, adolescent awareness, injury prevention, and skeletal wellness.

In addition, a free tooth extraction service was provided inside the Dental Bus by generous dentists from the Philippine Dental Association – Norte Chapter, headed by Dr. Vinna Marchelle L. Gaspar and some members Dr. Agatha Merle G. Ancheta, Dr. Lilian S. Cabasa, Dr. Gloriariza B. Diaz, Dr. Thelma Domingo together with Dr. Eva Candelario from the Ilocos Norte Provincial Health Office (PHO).

This meaningful activity not only raised awareness but also delivered essential dental services to our students. A heartfelt thank you to all the facilitators, dentists, and organizers who made this initiative a success! 💙

This day of February 24, 2026 (Tuesday), Solsona National High School, successfully conducted activities in line with the 2026 National Oral Health Month Celebration. The program began with the dissemination of oral hygiene kits to all Grade 7 students, followed by a feeding program for identified Severely wasted and wasted learners. After the distribution, the beneficiaries of the oral hygiene kits were gathered for a supervision of oral hygiene activity to reinforce proper oral hygiene practices among students.

The initiative was spearheaded by the School Principal IV, Mr. Romel B. Benavedez, who emphasized that the activity was designed to strengthen preventive health care among learners and to cultivate healthy daily habits, particularly in maintaining proper oral hygiene and balanced nutrition. He highlighted that promoting good health practices at an early age is essential in supporting students’ overall well-being and academic performance, as healthy learners are more capable of focusing on their studies and actively participating in school activities.

The program was supervised by the School Nurse, Mrs. Liibeth A. Sacro with the assistance of the Red Cross Youth (RCY) officers, who actively supported the implementation of the activity through the distribution of oral hygiene kits and the supervision of toothbrushing activity. According to Mrs. Sacro, the integration of nutrition support through the feeding program and oral hygiene education plays a significant role in improving learners’ physical condition and in preventing common health issues. This combined approach helps ensure that students are physically healthy, more attentive in class, and better prepared for effective and meaningful learning in school.

This activity supports the Seven Key Initiatives of the Schools Division of Ilocos Norte (SDOIN), particularly the School Health and Wellness Program, which prioritizes learner well-being through integrated health, nutrition, and hygiene interventions. It also aligns with the 5-Point Agenda of Solsona National High School starting with A – Addressing Students’ Welfare and Holistic Development, highlighting the school’s commitment to nurturing both the physical health and overall development of learners.

Today, 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟓, the 𝐑𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 – 𝐈𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐨𝐬 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 continued the 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐢𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 (𝐘𝐅𝐀𝐓) – 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐 at 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐠𝐭𝐮𝐠 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥, with the active 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬 from 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 and 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐠𝐭𝐮𝐠 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥.

Our Day 2 training focused on 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬-𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬, and 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥-𝐬𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐨 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 that further strengthened the 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 and 𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞 capability of our youth volunteers.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the 𝐑𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 – 𝐈𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐨𝐬 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 for conducting and guiding this training, and to 𝐒𝐢𝐫 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐡 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐝𝐚𝐨, 𝐌𝐚’𝐚𝐦 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐆𝐞𝐦 𝐋𝐮𝐢𝐳, and 𝐒𝐢𝐫 𝐈𝐚𝐧 𝐓𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐧 for teaching us, supporting us, and ensuring a meaningful 2 Day training experience.

On 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟔–𝟕, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, we, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚 𝐍𝐇𝐒 - 𝐑𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡, proudly volunteered as 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 during the 𝐒𝐎𝐒𝐒𝐀𝐀 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 to ensure the 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 and 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥-𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 of all athletes, coaches, and students throughout the two-day athletic event.

Armed with 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞, 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 us First Aiders provided immediate care and assistance, always ready to respond whenever help was needed.

To strengthen safety awareness and preparedness among students, 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹, through the 𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹, conducted the 𝗖𝗣𝗥 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱, at the 𝗦𝗡𝗛𝗦 𝗖𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁.

The activity aimed to train participants in 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗼𝗽𝘂𝗹𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘂𝘀𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗖𝗣𝗥), a vital emergency response skill that can save lives during cardiac emergencies. The program featured 𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀, 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀-𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 that equipped learners and teachers with essential life-saving techniques.

SNHS extends its gratitude to 𝗦𝗶𝗿 𝗝𝗲𝗱𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗼, 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿, together with 𝗠𝘀. 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗺 𝗟𝘂𝗶𝘀 and 𝗠𝘀. 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗔𝗹𝗼𝗻𝘇𝗼 from the 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀, 𝗜𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗼𝘀 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿, for their expertise and guidance throughout the caravan. In observance of 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐚𝐲, 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 conducted a hygiene awareness and demonstration activity to reinforce the importance of 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐲𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐞, 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 within the school community.

On 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 conducted the 𝐁𝐚𝐤𝐮𝐧𝐚 𝐄𝐬𝐤𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐚 school-based immunization program to protect learners against 𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐥𝐞𝐬, 𝐑𝐮𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚, 𝐓𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐢𝐩𝐡𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚 (𝐌𝐑-𝐓𝐃).

Before the vaccination, students were oriented by 𝐍𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐥𝐞𝐞 𝐀𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐚, 𝐑.𝐌., who discussed proper handwashing, and 𝐉𝐮𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐬 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐬, 𝐑.𝐍., who explained the importance of MR-TD vaccination.

The vaccination itself was administered by 𝐌𝐚. 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐥 𝐀𝐥𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐨, 𝐑.𝐍. and 𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐭𝐭 𝐕𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐋𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐬, 𝐑.𝐍. Health assessment and screening were facilitated by 𝐉𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐫 𝐁𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐝, 𝐑.𝐍. and 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞 𝐄𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐛𝐚𝐧, 𝐑.𝐌.

Last Wednesday, 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟕, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, at 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥, students received their 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐚 𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐮𝐬 (𝐇𝐏𝐕) 𝐕𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 (𝐃𝐎𝐇). The activity aimed to raise awareness on the importance of HPV vaccination in preventing cervical cancer and protecting the youth from HPV-related diseases.

The program began with a discussion led by 𝐍𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐈𝐈 𝐌𝐚’𝐚𝐦 𝐉𝐮𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐬 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐬, who emphasized the health benefits of the HPV vaccine. The vaccination process was carried out by our committed health partners — 𝐍𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐈𝐈 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐁. 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐮𝐳, (Sanitation Inspector/Registered Nurse), 𝐌𝐢𝐝𝐰𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐥𝐞𝐞 𝐀𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐚, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐍𝐃𝐏 𝐍𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐉𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐉. 𝐃𝐞𝐥 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐨 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐉𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐑. 𝐓𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐨.
