WOMEN’S MONTH 2026
Going Through Change: Understanding Menopause and Dementia
Women protect communities. Women lead. Women serve.
But who protects the health and well-being of the women who dedicate their lives to serving others?
In celebration of Women’s Month, a powerful and meaningful learning session, “Going Through Change: Understanding Menopause and Dementia,” gathered women in uniform and women advocates in a shared commitment: to empower women with knowledge about their own bodies and their future health.
This initiative was made possible through the partnership of the Nueva Vizcaya Police Provincial Office, the Provincial Advisory Group of Nueva Vizcaya, the Nueva Vizcaya Women in the Police Service, and the Zonta Club of Nueva Vizcaya.
Held on March 12, 2026 at Acosta Hall, the gathering brought together fifty (50) dedicated police officers and non-commissioned officers—women who stand daily on the frontlines of service.
Yet behind the strength of every woman in uniform are realities often left unspoken: the physical and emotional transitions of menopause, and the silent threat of dementia.
Studies reveal a sobering truth—two-thirds of Alzheimer’s disease cases affect women. Despite this, awareness remains low and conversations remain rare.
Breaking that silence was the heart of this gathering.
Through the expertise of distinguished speakers Dr. Minnie Gambito-Padre and Dr. Katrina Cadiente Remigio, participants gained vital knowledge about the changes women experience and how understanding these transitions can lead to better health management, stronger resilience, and improved well-being.
For women in law enforcement—where strength, alertness, and endurance are essential—this knowledge becomes a powerful tool for anticipatory care, workplace readiness, and sustained service to the community.
This is the spirit of Zonta advocacy:
educating women, strengthening women, and ensuring that women are not left to navigate life’s changes alone.
When women understand their bodies, they reclaim power.
When women support one another, they build stronger institutions.
And when women rise together, communities thrive.
This Women’s Month, we celebrate not only the courage of women who serve—but also the importance of protecting their health, honoring their journeys, and empowering their voices.
Because empowered women do not only change their own lives—
they change the world.
