𝗣𝗔𝗙𝗧, 𝗦𝗟𝗦𝗨–𝗦𝗼𝗴𝗼𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘀 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗢𝗻-𝗦𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁

The Philippine Association of Food Technologists (PAFT), in partnership with the Department of Food Science and Technology (DFoST) faculty, successfully hosted a Global Aquaculture Specialist for an On-Site Advisory Visit at the Southern Leyte State University (SLSU)–Sogod Campus Library Theater on February 24, 2026.

The mission centered on strengthening knowledge in post-harvest handling, quality assurance, fermentation technologies, and various innovations within the food and beverage industries.

University President Dr. Jude A. Duarte formally opened the program with a welcoming address. Dr. Ingrid M. Uy, Director for External Linkages and International Affairs, extended her greetings and recognized the attendees, while Dr. Francis Ann R. Sy, Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension Services, introduced the distinguished guest speaker.

The event was further supported by Dr. Dewoowoogen P. Baclayon, Director of SLSU–Bontoc Campus, and Maasin City Councilor Mikhael Leonardo Mercado, who both expressed their commitment to advancing aquaculture and food technology initiatives.

The keynote speaker, Mr. Byron Marcelo Hidalgo-Zambrano, Chief Operating Officer of the Fishing Industry Association of Papua New Guinea (FIA PNG) and Founder and Director of Seafoodmatter, shared valuable insights from his professional journey—from employee to entrepreneur. He highlighted key developments in tuna processing, technological advancements in seafood quality improvement, and emerging opportunities for innovation. Students actively participated in an engaging question-and-answer segment that enriched the discussion.

The program concluded with a message of appreciation delivered by Dr. Ramil T. Uy, Provincial Director of the Department of Science and Technology – Provincial Science and Technology Office Southern Leyte (DOST-PSTO), on behalf of the partner institutions.

𝗙𝗔𝗦 𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲: 𝗔 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲!

The Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) truly came alive as we celebrated this year’s FAS Day with joy, energy, and togetherness! 💙💛

We began the celebration with a solemn Holy Mass, grounding the event in gratitude and faith, followed by a meaningful photo opportunity capturing the smiles and unity of the FAS family.

The excitement continued with fun-filled parlor games that brought out everyone’s competitive spirit, laughter, and teamwork. It was heartwarming to see students and faculty bonding and creating unforgettable memories.

The highlight of the day was the much-awaited Queen of FAS, where beauty, confidence, intelligence, and grace shone brightly on stage. Truly, it was a celebration not just of charm, but of empowerment and excellence within our faculty.

FAS Day 2026 was more than just an event—it was a reminder that we are one community, united in spirit and driven by passion.

Here’s to more celebrations filled with faith, friendship, and FAS pride! 💫

The Philippine Association of Food Technologists - SLSU Chapter successfully conducted its Feeding Program and Film Showing for children with special needs, an initiative filled with compassion, joy, and heartfelt moments.

The program was warmly hosted by Leanne Villaruel, President of PAFT, who guided the event with enthusiasm and dedication.

We were honored to have the Opening Remarks delivered by Dr. Aldwin M. Teves, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, who emphasized the importance of service, inclusivity, and community engagement.

The highlight of the event followed with the Film Showing and Feeding Program, where smiles, laughter, and shared meals created unforgettable memories for everyone present.

An uplifting Inspirational Message was shared by Ms. Paula Bargaso, reminding us that small acts of kindness can create a big impact in the lives of others.

To formally conclude the program, the Closing Remarks were delivered by Mr. Bonifacio M. Olor, Head of SNED (Special Needs Education), who expressed gratitude and appreciation for the collaborative effort behind this meaningful activity.

This event truly reflected our commitment to service, leadership, and social responsibility. Thank you to everyone who made this initiative possible. Together, we continue to make a difference, one heart at a time. 💛

We celebrate love the FoodTech way—through service, compassion, and healthy nourishment.

This Love Month, we dedicate our hearts and service to the amazing SNED (Special Needs Education) students. 👥

On February 18, 2026 | 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM at the SLSU Mini Theatre, the Philippine Association of Food Technologists – SLSU Chapter will share love through our Feeding Program and Cinematic Exposure—bringing smiles, warmth, and meaningful moments to our dear children.

Because for us, love is best shown through action. 💞✨

This assembly marked another step forward in empowering future food technologists through active participation, shared goals, and collective commitment to excellence.

Through giving of cleaning supplies and community engagement, vendors and consumers alike learned the importance of maintaining cleanliness and ensuring safe food handling practices.
