As we celebrate our 4th Anniversary and our 1st year as an officially registered NGO, we' re reminded that none of this would have been possible without the people who believed in us.

To the Department of Education of Pangasinan II, our partner schools in Sison, Pangasinan, Panpacific University, PU scholars volunteers, Ylang Ylang-Ylang Saem Volunteers, Dulwich College Seoul- Students, donors, churches, local government partners, teachers, guardians, and friends, THANK YOU for being part of our journey.

We are happy to see Ylang-Ylang ReadSpark continue to grow, with new chapters in Quezon City and at Panpacific University. Our literacy programs have also started at the Bureau of Corrections, giving us another chance to share books and support learning in a new community.

Our work is also expanding across South Luzon, with new partnerships taking shape in Laguna and Batangas. We look forward to building more connections with communities that share our heart for education.

If you are interested in starting a Ylang-Ylang chapter in your area, we would love to hear from you. Let's make books and learning more accessible to more communities.

Thank you for believing in what we do. Every partnership and every supporter has helped make Ylang-Ylang what it is today. We can't wait to see what comes next.

Thank you for growing with us and helping make reading more accessible in the community🥰

For the past weeks, we’ve been running literacy and numeracy sessions for learners from Kindergarten to Grade 6, and we’re honestly blown away that around 200 children are now part of this journey!

Huge thank you to our Ssaem Volunteers from Panpacific University and Dream Church and Christ Jesus Faithful Church for showing up consistently and serving with so much heart! Agyaman kami launay!

We’re also deeply grateful to the schools who opened their classrooms for our Saturday sessions, and to the teachers who gave up their weekends, even with already full schedules, to help with safeguarding and monitoring while the sessions are ongoing. Your sacrifice means so much to us and to the children.

Our Ylang-Ylang Library still isn’t fully usable because of painting fumes and occasional power interruptions, but learning still pushed through even in our "Ylang-Ylang kubo".

Seeing these kids every week reminds us that many students still need intentional intervention to build foundational reading and math skills and that what we’re doing isn’t just nice to have, it’s necessary. The recent EDCOM II Turning Point report confirms how urgent this is, too many learners nationwide struggle with basic literacy and numeracy, and foundational skills drop sharply as students move up grade levels. The report calls for sustained, focused action to address these gaps at the earliest levels of learning. That’s why we’re opening our doors to more volunteers and partners. If you have time, skills, or simply a heart to help, send us a message. We’d love to journey with you. Because when a community comes together, children win.

Ylang-Ylang had its first Christmas party to celebrate the end of our Saturday Reading Intervention for the year. It was a simple but meaningful way to pause, give thanks, and celebrate how far we’ve come together.

This also marked the launch of our first Family Noche Buena Bucket, which we hope will become a yearly tradition for our Ylang-Ylang families. And of course, Ylang-Ylang is nothing without our Ylang-Ylang kiddos. You are the heart of our program, the reason we do what we do. This celebration was for you and because of you!

Thank you to the Dream Church staff, leaders, and volunteers who showed up every Saturday to facilitate our reading sessions. Your consistency made so much difference. Thank you as well to our Reading Saems who volunteered during the event and helped make sure the Family Noche Buena Buckets were shared equally among our 30 families.

We’re also very grateful to the Dulwich College Seoul CAS students for supporting this project and providing the Noche Buena packages. Your generosity brought real Christmas joy to many homes.

Thank you to School Heads, Ma’am Sonia Mamaril and Ma’am Eloisa Alvarez for taking the time to join our celebration. Your presence and words of encouragement meant so much to our young readers and volunteers!

Merry Christmas everyone,

from your Ylang-Ylang family!
