🌏 Climate change and nutrition are colliding in the Philippines, and the impacts are growing.

From intensifying typhoons to rising food insecurity and poor diet quality, these challenges are deeply interconnected. Yet too often, policies and actions still address them separately.

Developed in collaboration with Clim-Eat, Scaling Up Nutrition Movement, and IIRR-Asia / Scaling Up Nutrition Civil Society Network, the policy brief Building climate-resilient and nutrition-secure food systems in the Philippines brings together stakeholder insights to highlight key gaps, priority drivers, and practical entry points for action from food environments and plastic pollution to climate-resilient production and value chains.

πŸ“’ New policy brief on climate and nutrition in the Philippines

Climate change and nutrition challenges in the Philippines are deeply interconnected, from climate shocks disrupting food systems to persistent malnutrition and shifting diets. Addressing these issues in silos is no longer enough.

Developed in collaboration with Clim-Eat, SUN, and IIRR / SUN CSN, the policy brief Building climate-resilient and nutrition-secure food systems in the Philippines highlights practical pathways to better align climate and nutrition action, from national policy to local implementation.

A key priority:
Strengthening interagency coordination on climate and nutrition
Engaging local governments and communities to drive integrated action across food, health, and climate systems

By improving collaboration across sectors and levels, we can support more resilient food systems, healthier diets, and stronger outcomes for communities.

Authored by: Saskia Doherty, Leanne Zeppenfeldt, Emily Oro, Marian Amaka Odenigbo, and Eadara Srikanth
