KIWANIS INTERNATIONAL
Philippine Luzon District
COUNCIL OF LIEUTENANT GOVERNORS
DIVISION IV-A | Key No. 03607
Brief History
By PDS Jim P. Bayas
The Kiwanis organization in Division IV-A traces its roots back to Administrative Year (AY) 1979โ1980, when the original Division IV was subdivided into two (2) distinct divisions. Division IV-A encompassed Kiwanis Clubs from the provinces of Cavite, Batangas, and Mindoro, while Division IV-B covered the provinces of Laguna and Quezon.
From AY 1979โ1980 until the early 2000s, the Lieutenant Governors of Division IV-A focused their efforts on strengthening club foundations, promoting membership growth, and implementing meaningful community service projects.
A significant milestone in the Divisionโs history occurred during Administrative Year 2005โ2006 under the leadership of Lieutenant Governor Egrie Virata of the Kiwanis Club of Silang, Inc. During his term, an initiative was proposed to formally organize the Past Lieutenant Governors of the Division. With eighteen (18) active Past Lieutenant Governors at the time, it was deemed both timely and beneficial to establish a dedicated committee.
Lieutenant Governor Virata endorsed the proposal and emphasized the importance of appointing a chairman who exemplified unwavering dedication and consistent support to the principles and objectives of Kiwanis. He subsequently appointed Past Lieutenant Governor Metring Villanueva of the Kiwanis Club of Imus as the first Chairman of the committee. Acting promptly on this initiative, PLG Villanueva, in coordination with LG Virata, convened the active Past Lieutenant Governors of the Division. The inaugural meeting was held in October 2005 at Hotel Dominique in Tagaytay City, attended by ten (10) Past Lieutenant Governors.
Further strengthening its institutional foundation, the Association was officially registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on May 9, 2011, under Registration No. CN201107919. As formally adopted, the Mission of the Association aligns with and upholds the Six (6) Objects of Kiwanis International, reflecting its steadfast commitment to service, leadership, and community development.
