A FATHER’S FINAL MARCH 🎓
“Cherilyn had big dreams for our family. She wanted us to rise from poverty.” — Cerino Cahilig, her younger brother.
On June 29, Cesar Cahilig walked across the graduation stage at the University of Antique–Tario-Lim Memorial Campus in Tibiao carrying a life-sized standee of his daughter, Cherilyn.
Cherilyn was meant to receive her Bachelor of Science in Business Management diploma that day. But a vehicular accident on May 29 took her life just one month before the ceremony.
Her teachers and classmates made sure she was still present for the milestone she had worked so hard to reach. In place of the walk she could no longer make, her father carried her image and accepted her diploma before the university community.
For Cherilyn, education was more than a degree. It was a dream of helping her family rise and building a different future through every sacrifice she made in school.
Her graduation became a painful goodbye, but also a lasting reminder: some dreams are carried not only by one student, but by an entire family.
Congratulations, Cherilyn. Your achievement will always be yours.
