LATAWAN COCONUT FARMERS ASSOCIATION PARA SA DOLE-ASSISTED LIVELIHOOD PROJECT!

Abril 4, 2025 – Opisyal nga gin-turn over ang cheque nga nagabalor Php 995,900.00 sa Latawan Coconut Farmers Association (LACOFA) bilang benepisyaryo sang DOLE-Assisted Livelihood Project.

Ang grant nga nabaton sang LACOFA ang igatutok sa pagbakal sang mga makinarya kag materyales para sa Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) processing kag sa paghimo sang VCO-based face and body bar soap kag shampoo bar.

Ang LACOFA, isa sa mga asosasyon nga ginbuligan sang LGU-Sara (MGLAD) nangin kabahin sang nasambit nga proyekto bilang kabahin sang padayon nga paninguha sang lokal nga panguluhan nga mapalapad pa ang mga livelihood programs sa banwa. Ini nga proyekto sabat sa kinahanglanon sang mga pumuluyo, labi na gid sang mga mangunguma nga naga-ugyon sa industriya sang niyog.

Si Mayor Jon N. Aying personal nga nagpadulong kay Atty. Sixto Rodriguez, DOLE Regional Director, agud mangayo sang dugang nga pondo para sa mga palangabuhian. Bangud sini nga inisyatibo kag maayo nga pagsugilanon, ginhatagan sang DOLE sang Php 7.1 million ang banwa sang Sara para sa mga livelihood projects nga magabulig sa pagtubo sang lokal nga ekonomiya kag kaayuhan sang mga mangunguma.

Padayon ang LGU-Sara sa pagserbisyo kag paghatag sang mas madamo pa nga oportunidad sa mga asosasyon pareho sang LACOFA, nga may handum nga mapasangkad pa ang industriya sang niyog sa banwa.

Napulo kag pito (17) ka miyembro sang Latawan Coconut Farmers Association (LACOFA) ang nakabaton sang abono para sa lubi halin sa Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) Iloilo. Ini nga bulig makapabakod sang ila produksyon kag makapauswag sang industriya sang lubi sa Brgy. Latawan Sara, Iloilo.

Latawan Coconut Farmers Association General Meeting

During the Latawan Coconut Farmers Association (LACOFA) general meeting, president Capt. Norlito Morales discussed the topics covered in the SACOPA meeting last February 28, 2025, with the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) and the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC).

One of the main topics was coconut insurance, whereas benefits for farmers were explained. During the meeting, forms were also distributed to coconut farmers from PCIC. Also, the president discussed about the various programs and support available for the association from the PCA Iloilo.

The Sara Coconut Planters Association held its monthly general meeting today, February 28, 2025, at Brgy. Malapaya Gymnasium.

The association invited representatives from the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) Iloilo), Mr. Elvin Rutor and Ms. Dollynkeyk Consumo, who discussed various programs and support available for the association.

Insurance underwriter Ms. Marivelle Palomo from The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) was also present to explain coconut insurance, helping farmers understand how to protect their crops from damage or loss.

In addition, SB Member Dennis Caraecle, who is in charge of agriculture in Sara, was also invited to show support for the local coconut farmers.

The meeting aimed to inform and assist farmers in accessing government programs, securing their farms through insurance, and strengthening partnerships with local government and agencies.

The Sara Coconut Planters Association (SaCoPA) held its 1st General Assembly Meeting today, December 13, 2024, at the Vernice Rose Integrated Farm in Sara, Iloilo.

We are grateful to Mr. Elvin Rutor from the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) Iloilo and SB Dennis Caraecle, the SB in charge of Agriculture, for their support and valuable contributions.

The meeting served as a platform for farmers to discuss the concerns and issues among the coconut association, share ideas, and plan initiatives to strengthen the coconut industry in the community.

The Coco Ilonggo Council is a newly organization representing the coconut micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Iloilo, with support and assistance from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Iloilo.

The council's structure is as follows:
