Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg), in partnership with the Municipal Local Government Units (MLGUs) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR), successfully conducted a Training on Corn Production and facilitated the distribution of agricultural inputs and machineries to corn farmers of Sultan sa Barongis (SSB) and Rajah Buayan.
The activity aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of farmers on improved corn production technologies, focusing on seed selection, soil fertility management, integrated pest management, and postharvest handling. After the training, OPAg distributed certified hybrid corn seeds, while corn harvesters were formally turned over to farmer cooperatives. A total of 60 farmers benefitted from the activity, which not only provided immediate production support but also strengthened linkages between OPAg, the MLGUs, and farmer cooperatives.
The event concluded with a shared commitment to maximize the use of the distributed inputs and equipment and to sustain agricultural productivity in the municipalities of Sultan sa Barongis and Rajah Buayan.
This initiative is part of the Festival of Service: GIVE HEART, the Provincial Government’s socio-economic development agenda designed to deliver holistic and inclusive services to its constituents.
