From ideas to evidence, Bachelor of Public Administration (BPA) students took another step toward becoming more capable and critical researchers during the BPA Student Research Seminar and Workshop 2026, held at the Audio Video Room of Santo Tomas College of Agriculture, Sciences, and Technology (STCAST), September 26, 2026.
Anchored on the theme, โStrengthening Research Competence: From Public Administration Ideas to Evidence-Based Solutions,โ the one-day activity provided students with an avenue to deepen their understanding of research and its vital role in addressing real-world issues in public administration.
The seminar featured Joseph V. Tantiado, MPA, and Edelmira M. Recto, PhD, who served as resource speakers and shared their knowledge and insights to help students navigate the research process and appreciate the value of evidence in developing solutions to public concerns.
Opening the activity, Charito M. Escuzar, BPA Program Coordinator, delivered her welcome and guidance message, setting the tone for a day centered on learning, participation, and research development.
Meanwhile, Dr. Helaria B. Carmona, Vice President for the Office of Research, Development, and Extension, also shared her message, emphasizing the importance of cultivating a culture of research among students and encouraging them to pursue knowledge that can contribute to meaningful development.
Beyond the lectures, participants actively engaged in an open forum, workshop, and output presentations, allowing them to translate concepts into practical research exercises. The program also featured trivia activities, adding an interactive and enjoyable element to the learning experience, with food packs given as prizes to participants.
The successful conduct of the activity was made possible through the efforts of Carl Benedict D. Pamposa, BPA Internship President, together with the BPA Internship Officials, who facilitated and organized the event.
More than a seminar, the activity served as a reminder that effective public administration begins with informed ideas, strengthened by research and grounded in evidence.
As BPA students continue their academic journey, the seminar challenged them to look beyond theoriesโto ask relevant questions, examine evidence, and transform knowledge into solutions that can make a difference in communities.
