'WE HAVE TO CARRY ON AND DO CHARITY'

SITREP/Charity: The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has no other choice but to carry on and do charity, General Manager Melquiades “Mel” Robles said as the agency is set to turn 92 on October 30.

Robles said in his speech at the PCSO Charity Summit at Lanson Place in Pasay City on Thursday, October 15 that charity is embedded in the agency.

The PCSO chief said the agency values life, and that the name of the agency already says what the organization is about and what it has to carry on doing.

“As our name implies, ang organization namin is charity. It is embedded. We have to carry on and do charity,” he said.

He said the PCSO stands apart from other government offices, then turned to what the guests at the summit would do that day.

“We are the only government office, the only government organization of the state that is focused on charity, and today we will all share our experiences of charity,” he said.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. declared October 30 of every year as the National Day of Charity through Proclamation 598 in 2024.
