Culminating Program and Recognition Ceremony
“Books for Her Future: A Zonta Book Donation Drive”

The Zonta Club of Santiago City successfully conducted the Culminating Program and Recognition Ceremony of its month-long project, “Books for Her Future: A Zonta Book Donation Drive,” on June 14, 2026, at the Center Atrium of Robinsons Santiago. The activity marked the successful conclusion of the Club’s literacy and empowerment initiative aimed at collecting books that will be utilized in the establishment of Book Nooks in public schools and malls throughout Santiago City.
The event was attended by members of the Zonta Club of Santiago City headed by Charter President Arlene Alvarez-Reyes and Club President Flordeliza “Flor” Bello.
The occasion was further honored by the presence of distinguished guests from the Zonta Club of Nueva Vizcaya, the mother club of Zonta Club of Santiago City, namely Atty. Edna Angel Baguidudol, President; Regie Valino-Valdez, Charter President; and Mary Gay Tottoc-Assuncion, whose attendance underscored the strong bond and continuing support between the two clubs.
A highlight of the program was the recognition of the generous individuals who donated books in support of the project. Recognition goes to the following donors:

The Club also acknowledged the invaluable support of Robinsons Santiago, which served as the project’s collection and event venue. Present during the ceremony were Robinsons Santiago Administrative Representatives Rosemarie Guiring, Mary Elena Manalo, Brixter Guiwo, Jericho Laggui, and Alex Pascua, who were recognized for their partnership and assistance throughout the duration of the book donation campaign.
Adding inspiration to the event was the presence of Gemma Salafranca and her son, Raine, beneficiaries of the Zonta Club of Santiago City’s Good Samaritan Initiative. Raine, who became orthopedically challenged following a serious accident, continues to receive assistance from the Club for his medical needs and physical rehabilitation.
Their story served as a moving reminder of Zonta’s commitment to service and compassion, exemplifying how collective efforts can help build a brighter future for individuals and families facing adversity.
Through the “Books for Her Future” Book Donation Drive, the Zonta Club of Santiago City successfully mobilized community support for literacy and education. The books collected during the campaign will serve as the initial collection for the Book Nooks that the Club plans to establish in strategic public spaces and schools, creating accessible learning corners that promote reading, knowledge-sharing, and lifelong learning.
The successful culmination of the project reflects the Club’s continuing commitment to empowering women and communities through education, service, and advocacy. More than a collection of books, the initiative symbolizes hope, opportunity, and the transformative power of knowledge in shaping a better future for all.
