TARLAC CITY, Philippines – The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) – Southern Isabela Chapter actively participated in the 35th North Luzon Area Business Conference (NLABC) held on June 2–3, 2026 at the Diwa ng Tarlac Convention Center, Tarlac City. The conference brought together business leaders, chamber executives, government officials, and development partners from across North Luzon under the theme, “North Luzon Now: Stronger in Inclusivity and Sustainable Prosperity.”

PCCI-Southern Isabela was represented by President Mr. Markson Louie C. Tan , Board Directors Myrna Canete and Dr. Jeanette Genove, Secretariat Paulyn Pascua, Shynne Cecille Arao - DTI-SCSO representative , and Grace Naval - LGU Santiago City representative.

The conference commenced with the opening of the Regional Trade Fair and Exhibit, followed by the Chamber Development Forum which focused on strengthening the chamber ecosystem, chamber mentorship programs, financing opportunities for local chambers, sustainable development initiatives, and the sharing of best practices among chambers from different regions. The forum provided valuable insights on enhancing chamber operations and strengthening partnerships that support local business communities.

On the second day, delegates participated in plenary sessions addressing critical issues affecting the economic future of North Luzon. Discussions focused on food and energy security, investment promotion, infrastructure development, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, transparency, and good governance. Industry experts, government officials, and business leaders shared strategies to improve regional competitiveness and foster inclusive economic growth.

A notable highlight of the conference was the participation of Mr. Markson Louie C. Tan, President of PCCI-Southern Isabela, who served as Session Introducer for Session 1: Securing Food and Energy in North Luzon. The session tackled national directions on food security and agricultural development, the integration of small-scale farmers into scalable supply chains, agricultural research and innovation, and sustainable energy solutions to support resilient agricultural growth in the region.

The event also provided opportunities for networking and collaboration among local chambers of commerce, government agencies, and private sector stakeholders. Through active participation in the conference, PCCI-Southern Isabela strengthened its partnerships and gained valuable insights that can contribute to the advancement of entrepreneurship, investment promotion, workforce development, and sustainable economic growth in Southern Isabela and the Cagayan Valley Region.

SANTIAGO CITY, ISABELA – The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Southern Isabela Chapter, in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Santiago City and the Department of Trade and Industry - Santiago City Satellite Office, conducted the distribution of price tags to vegetable vendors from the New Public Market and Old Public Market under Project Transparency and Accountability on Pricing and Tags (TAPAT) on May 20, 2026.

A total of 74 vegetable vendors who previously attended the Project TAPAT dialogue and orientation claimed their price tags during the distribution activity. As part of the initiative, PCCI Southern Isabela provided 10 price tags to each participating vendor to support compliance with proper price tagging practices and promote transparency in the pricing of agricultural products within Santiago City’s public markets.

Following the distribution, a monitoring activity was conducted on May 25, 2026, to assess whether the participating vendors were properly utilizing the provided price tags in their respective stalls. The monitoring aimed to encourage continuous compliance with price tagging regulations and reinforce the objectives of Project TAPAT in promoting consumer awareness, fair trade practices, and price transparency in the local marketplace.

Through the collaborative efforts of PCCI Southern Isabela, LGU Santiago, and DTI Santiago City Satellite Office, Project TAPAT continues to foster a more organized, transparent, and consumer-friendly market environment for both vendors and consumers in Santiago City.

Santiago City, Isabela – As part of the implementation of Project TAPAT (Transparency and Accountability on Pricing and Tags), the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Southern Isabela (PCCI–Southern Isabela), in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Santiago City Satellite Office and the Local Government Unit of Santiago City, conducted a dialogue with vegetable vendors from the Old Public Market and New Public Market of Santiago City on April 13, 2026, at Arcade 2, 2nd Floor, Santiago City.

The activity gathered 75 vegetable vendors and was hosted by Ms. Cris Wella Grace L. Buyagao. PCCI Secretariat Ms. Paulyn C. Pascua delivered the welcome message, followed by Mr. Albert Butch S. Obedoza, Market Supervisor III (CWAC), expressed his support for the initiative, emphasizing the role of local enforcement in maintaining compliance within public markets.

PCCI President Mr. Markson Louie S. Tan presented the rationale of Project TAPAT, emphasizing its importance in addressing current pricing challenges brought about by logistics and supply concerns. He also encouraged vendors to work together in promoting transparency for consumers, underscoring the need for accurate price tagging and clear pricing systems to protect consumer welfare and strengthen business integrity.

The discussion on the Price Tag Law was led by Mr. Alrick C. Manalo, CPD Technical Assistant of DTI SCSO, emphasizing proper pre tagging and compliance among retailers. An open forum followed, where concerns were addressed by Mr. Lovell Mark C. Campania, OIC/STIDS of DTI SCSO, who also delivered the closing remarks.

Project TAPAT is a key initiative of PCCI-Southern Isabela aimed at fostering fair trade practices, consumer protection, and strengthened accountability among market players in Santiago City.
