Celebrating the Success of the 11th Rural Based Organization Day

The Pagtulun-an sa Dios nga Amahan Farmers Association Inc. proudly participated in the 11th Rural Based Organization Day on November 29, 2024, at the Santiago Municipal Gymnasium. The event includes participation of attendees, bringing community leaders, farmers and officials under the inspiring theme: "Right to Foods for a Better Life and a Better Future, Leave No One Behind," was a significant success.

The members and I extend our deepest gratitude to the Municipal Agriculture Office, the Department of Agriculture, and the Agricultural Training Institute for their invaluable support. We look forward to continuing our collaborative efforts towards a more prosperous and equitable future for our community.

The black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens) is an insect known for its exceptional ability to recycle organic waste. It undergoes a complete metamorphosis, with its larvae capable of consuming large amounts of food scraps and agricultural byproducts, transforming them into high-protein biomass. This makes the larvae a valuable source of animal feed for livestock, poultry, and aquaculture. Unlike many other flies, adult black soldier flies do not bite or spread diseases, making them safe for use in composting and farming. Additionally, their waste management capabilities contribute to reducing landfill use and greenhouse gas emissions, positioning them as a key player in sustainable agriculture and waste recycling.
