The Philippine National Police (PNP), in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and other partner units, recorded another significant accomplishment in its intensified anti-illegal drugs campaign after separate operations in Quezon, Negros Oriental, Bacolod City, and Zamboanga City resulted in the recovery of more than ₱61 million worth of suspected illegal drugs on May 16, 2026.

In Patnanungan, Quezon, police personnel responded to a report from a local fisherman regarding the discovery of five tape-sealed plastic bags containing more or less 6.5 kilograms of suspected co***ne with an estimated value of over ₱34.5 million. Authorities said the items were believed to have drifted ashore months earlier before being discovered in a coastal area.

Another operation in Bacolod City resulted in the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of around one kilogram of suspected shabu worth ₱6.8 million.

In Zamboanga City, joint operatives also confiscated approximately two kilograms of suspected shabu valued at ₱13.6 million from a suspect during a coordinated anti-illegal drug operation.

Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. commended the operating units and emphasized the importance of sustained coordination and public cooperation in combating illegal drugs.

“Malaking tulong ang pakikipagtulungan ng mamamayan sa ating kampanya laban sa ilegal na droga. Kapag may impormasyon at agad itong naiuulat, mas mabilis nating naaaksyunan at napipigilan ang pagkalat ng ipinagbabawal na droga sa ating mga komunidad,” PGen Nartatez said.

He added, “Our operations remain focused on protecting communities while ensuring that police actions are conducted properly and within the bounds of the law. Patuloy nating paiigtingin ang ating kampanya laban sa illegal drugs through disciplined and intelligence-based operations.”

The operations form part of the intensified implementation of the PNP Focused Agenda under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, aimed at strengthening intelligence-driven and community-supported law enforcement efforts in line with the peace and public safety directives of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr..

The PNP assured the public that all recovered evidence will undergo proper examination and documentation, while appropriate charges are being prepared against the arrested suspects.

₱34.5-M SUSPECTED CO***NE IN 5 SEALED BAGS TURNED OVER IN QUEZON; PNP PROBES SOURCE

The Philippine National Police (PNP), under the leadership of Chief, PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., is conducting a thorough investigation following the voluntary turnover of five (5) tape-sealed plastic bags containing white crystalline substance suspected to be co***ne in Brgy. Busdak, Patnanungan, Quezon on May 16, 2026.

A 52-year-old male resident of Brgy. Busdak voluntarily surrendered the items to the Patnanungan Municipal Police Station. The recovered substances weighed approximately 6,514.7 grams with an estimated Standard Drug Price amounting to ₱34,528,387.00.

PNP personnel immediately secured the items upon receipt and prepared these for submission to the Quezon Provincial Forensic Unit for laboratory examination to determine their chemical composition and confirm the nature of the substance.

In line with the PNP Focused Agenda, the organization continues to strengthen its Enhanced Managing Police Operations, particularly in intensifying anti-illegal drug operations, ensuring proper evidence handling, and reinforcing case build-up and investigative procedures.

“We are determined to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident and ensure that all persons responsible will be held accountable under the law,” said Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief, PNP.

“Patuloy nating tututukan ang imbestigasyon upang malaman kung saan ito nanggaling at kung sino ang nasa likod nito,” he added.

As the PNP continues its investigation and laboratory validation under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., it assures the public of “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong mabilis, tapat, at nararamdaman.”

UNIFIED 911 ALERT: 911 CALL LEADS TO ARREST OF BJMP PERSONNEL FOR ALLEGED FIREARM THREAT, INDISCRIMINATE FIRING

The Philippine National Police, under the command of PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., arrested a 31-year-old Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) personnel for alleged violation of Republic Act No. 11926 or the Anti-Indiscriminate Firing Act, Grave Threat under Article 282, and Alarms and Scandals under Article 155 of the Revised Penal Code in Barangay 68, Tondo, Manila on May 15, 2026.

The arrest stemmed from an emergency report received through the Unified 911 system.

Investigation disclosed that operatives of Don Bosco Police Community Precinct immediately responded after receiving a unified 911 call regarding alleged indiscriminate firing inside a residential area. Upon arrival, the 46-year-old female victim narrated that the suspect, reportedly intoxicated, appeared in front of their residence while searching for his girlfriend and later entered the victim’s residence. The suspect allegedly pointed a firearm at the victim before firing a shot at the ground, causing alarm within the community.

A follow-up operation conducted by responding personnel resulted in the arrest of the suspect later that day at his residence in Barangay 121, Tondo, Manila. Recovered from his possession were one caliber 9mm pistol, one magazine loaded with five live rounds of ammunition, one fired slug, a firearm license, and a License to Own and Possess Fi****ms (LTOPF).

The arrested suspect was informed of his constitutional rights in Tagalog and opted to remain silent. He was subsequently brought to G*t Andres Bonifacio Medical Center for mandatory physical examination. Authorities are now preparing the necessary documents for inquest proceedings before the Manila Prosecutor’s Office.

PGEN Nartatez emphasized that government-issued authority to possess fi****ms must never be abused for intimidation, recklessness, or personal interest. “The PNP will not tolerate irresponsible firearm use, especially when it endangers innocent lives and disturbs public order. Accountability applies to everyone regardless of profession or affiliation,” he said. He added, “Hindi lisensya ang posisyon para gawin ang gusto mo. Ang sinumang lalabag sa batas ay mananagot.”

The operation also highlights the importance of immediate police response and active public reporting through the Unified 911 system, which contributed to the swift apprehension of the suspect and the prevention of further disturbance within the community.

As the PNP continues to intensify its efforts against unlawful acts involving fi****ms and maintain peace and security in communities under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., it continues to assure the public of “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong mabilis, tapat, at nararamdaman.”
