🌟 TRANSFORMING NATIONS, ONE CHILD AT A TIME 🧡

✨ There’s something sacred about simple moments together.

Last night we hosted a sleepover with the Shine kids, and it was one of those nights we’ll carry in our hearts for a long time. We sang songs, wrote our stories, cooked dinner together, ate way too much, played games, and talked about everything under the sun. Laughter filled every corner of the house.

What I love most is that these nights remind us that this isn’t just a program — it’s family. These kids aren’t projects or statistics. They are sons and daughters with dreams, voices, and stories that matter.

Sleepovers like this feel like the best way to say goodbye… at least for now. Not a final goodbye, just a “see you again soon.”

Until next time, Shine kids. đź’›

Tonight we were welcomed into the home of one of SHINE families— the Serencio Family. We shared a meal, heard their laughter, and felt the love they carry for each other.

This is what hope looks like.

❤️ Last week’s Valentine’s Day looked a little different for Darrell and Shai—spent apart, but united in purpose.

Darrell joined Brad in taking the graduating students from Olympia Island on a special trip, where he shared an inspiring message as they prepare for the next chapter of their lives. At the same time, Shai hosted a women’s conference at home, leading a Bible study on the lives and faith of women in Scripture.

It was a beautiful reminder that love is not only expressed in time spent together, but in lives poured out for others and in faithfully answering the call to serve.

💛 We had the joy of distributing clothes—sent all the way from the U.S.—to families living in the squatters community. These weren’t just donations… they came from close friends who chose to give with intention and love.

Every shirt, every dress, every pair of shorts carried a message: you matter, and you are not forgotten.

To our friends who gave so generously—thank you. Your kindness traveled across oceans and landed right where it was needed most.

And to the families who received them: we believe in you, we stand with you, and we’re reminded again that when people come together with open hands, God multiplies even the simplest gifts into something powerful. 💛

✨ We had the privilege of meeting with high school students after classes this week up in the mountain school—you can still see them in their uniforms, staying late just to gather, listen, and lean in.

Presley shared a powerful message about listening for God’s voice and being willing to go where He leads. A reminder that He knows each of them by name, sees their future, and has a purpose for their lives.

Word is spreading about the Sunday discipleship class… and students are inviting their friends. What started small is growing, and we’re now expecting a huge group this Sunday.

God is moving in the mountains—and these young lives are hungry for Him! ❤️🥺

👩🏻 Let me tell you about the moms.

While the kids laugh and play, they’re in the background—chopping, stirring, boiling noodles, and working side by side to prepare spaghetti for the feeding. Not because anyone required it. Because they care. Because these children are theirs, and this community is theirs too. 💛

There’s something powerful about watching them cook together. Conversations, smiles, shared burdens, and quiet strength all mixed into one pot.

This is more than a meal. It’s dignity. Ownership. Love in action.

The moms of Shine aren’t just helping feed kids—they’re building a community where no child is forgotten and no family stands alone.

From Stillwater to the mountains of the Philippines—your love traveled farther than you know. 🇺🇸➡️🇵🇭

The shirts you gave were reminders to these kids that they are seen, valued, and part of a bigger family across the world. Every time they put them on, they carry a story of generosity, friendship, and faith - and the pride of wearing a shirt from the US!

And here’s the part that keeps making us smile…We’ll be driving down the mountain or across town and suddenly spot them—kids, moms, and dads—wearing their Stillwater Camp shirts and caps out in everyday life. At the market. Walking home. Playing with friends.

Your gift didn’t stay in a box. It became part of the community.

Thank you for loving these children so tangibly. The impact is real, visible, and walking around all over town.

✨ From shy glances to bold voices. From heads down to hearts on fire.

What we witnessed in our very first discipleship class with these high school students was nothing short of holy ground. Kids who once looked at the floor when asked a question are now standing tall—confidently presenting themselves as sons and daughters of God.

And something else is stirring too… a spirit of volunteerism. A desire not just to be changed—but to become changers.

This is why we’re here. This is what hope looks like when it starts to take root.

The future is bright, and it’s shining through them. 🌟

Meet the Buscato Family đź’›

Bernalyn and Ariel are parents to Alliyah (13) and Bhrea (10). Their home is small but full of gratitude and hope.

Kuya Ariel works early as a fisherman and then at construction. Ate Bernalyn lovingly cares for their home. When asked how they are doing, they smiled and said, “We are very content and grateful.”

Their biggest hope is for Bhrea, or Kitkit, to continue her education. Ariel’s sister, Diana, will graduate Senior High this summer and hopes to find work afterward. Our Shine administrator, Lea, will meet with graduating students to help them follow God’s plan for their next steps.

We ended the visit in prayer and shared a simple meal of chicken adobo with fresh ripe mangoes. Grateful for moments like these and for God’s work in families’ lives.

Happy New Year! đź’«

As we step into a new year, we are reminded that while seasons change, Jesus ✝️ never does.

He is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and we place our hope in Him as we move forward together.
