Our aim is to reach more souls for the Lord. As to how we got our name, it was a combination of several minds. It all started when our Head Pastor encouraged us to think of a name that will embody our mission- what we want to do as a group. The word " Rock " instantly came to our mind because at that time two of our youth band members where former lovers of Rock music and want to redeem their pass
ion- this time to Rock for Jesus Christ. Most of the youth also near our area are hooked to computer games, so we thought that YROCK, which is close to WARROCK- the computer game would sound catchy. Since Santa Rosa is also known for rock bands, the rest of the group agreed that the name of the group bear the name " Rock " considering also the fact that we don't want to have a name which is entirely different from the name of the youth ministry of our mother church in Lighthouse - Alabang which is HOTROCK. At first, the name was YOUTHROCK, which later became YROCK. Also at first, it has no meaning, but again several minds coined the meaning- Youth Reaching Out for Christ Kingdom. Y- for Youth is a given thing
RO- for Reaching Out was suggested by one of our ate - a former member of Young Adult of our mother church. Originally, it was " Reaching Others " - which originally came from their Young Adult name, which partly says,..... Ministering Others....., later, as suggested by onother ate, " Reaching Out " seems to be a better term and is basically what the group wants to do. Two more girls suggested, " we have to reach out using Rock music, this time for Christ"---- thus the name " Reaching Out for Christ " was formed. For quite sometime, we could not think of a meaning for the letter K, in fact, another ate, jokingly said... " Klub " and " K " short for OK! Our Pastor's wife was the one who finally suggested the word -- "Kingdom"... Finally, the meaning of YroCk was formed. The name and meaning of our YROCK was coined on October 2008 but was officially launched on January 2009 which was attended by close to 200 youth attendees, mostly non- Christians. To date, YROCK which started with 15 youth members, meets regularly every Saturday nights with a minimum of 50 attendees, we've also opened campus ministries to several colleges in Santa Rosa and looking forward for other ministries to do, for the Glory of our God.
