In support with the programs, projects, and activities of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and DepEd Samar Division's School Governance & Operations Division (SGOD) office, the Napuro National High School's (NNHS) Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O) in collaboration with Brgy. In adherence to Republic Act No. 9003, s. 2000, the Napuro National High School's (NNHS) Youth for Environment in Schools - Organization (YES-O) spearheaded a waste segregation activity at Napuro National High School on October 14.

Waste segregation is a crucial practice that helps protect the environment and promotes a cleaner, healthier community. In schools, activities like cleanup drives play a vital role in educating students about proper waste disposal, recycling, and the importance of environmental responsibility. These initiatives not only keep the school clean but also instill lifelong habits that contribute to sustainability.

The Youth for Environment in School (YES) – Olympics was held on September 1-30, 2024 at Napuro National High School.

The month-long celebration of this year’s Youth for Environment in School (YES) - Olympics formally commenced through an opening program. On the opening program, Mrs. Ma. Villa B. Cruda, Secondary School Principal I, delivered her opening message expressing her utmost gratitude towards the organization for conducting such activity as it helps develop learner potentials and be reminded of the significance of collaborative efforts in protecting and conserving Mother Earth for the sake of the future generations to come.

In addition, Mr. John Michael B. Sujeco, Senior High School Teacher II and YES-O Adviser, led the presentation of the different activities and schedules in order for the participants to be guided.

On September 30, 2024, Napuro National High School through its Youth for Environment in Schools – Organization (YES-O) recognized the following contestants for besting other contestants:

Moreover, it is so unfortunate to announce that some of the activities were not conducted due to some issues committed by other schools collecting money that took the attention of the Schools Division Office and made an order to all schools to postpone for the mean time whatever activities that they have in mind. This precautionary measure was made by the Division Office to prevent further issues.

MARGARITA, Samar - To find a new generation of youth leaders who will serve as environmental conservation officers and warriors to protect the environment and motivate young napuronians to partake in this cause, the Youth for Environment in Schools - Organization (YES-O) through the leadership of its new Adviser Mr. John Michael B. Sujeco initiated and spearheaded the conduct of the organization's annual election dubbed as PINILIAY 2024: Election of YES-O Officers for School Year 2024-2025 held at Napuro National High School, August 16.

📌What is YES-O?🤔

✅DepEd Order No. 72, s. 2003, otherwise known as "Establishment of Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O)" serves as one of the concrete resolutions and actions adopted by the entire delegration from all over the country is the establishment of a school-based co-curricular organization which will serve as a significant venue for students’ actions and movements toward safeguarding, protecting and conserving the environment for future generations
✅In view thereof, the Department of Education (DepED), in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), establishes the Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (Yes-O) as the only recognized co-curricular environmental club or organization in the schools and consolidates all other environmental and/or ecology clubs or organizations in school with main and primary programs or projects for the environment or ecology in the said Organization
✅The Youth for Environment in Schools (YES) Organization shall have the following objectives:
1. Be aware and create awareness in others of the state of the Philippine environment and ecology, including prevailing issues and concerns relative thereto;
2. Establish specific and doable programs, projects and activities to address issues and concerns on the environment and ecology;
3. Network with other government and non-government organizations, including Youth for Environment in Schools (YES) Organizations in other schools within the division and region, with regard to support and assistance to programs, projects and activities of the organization;
4. Encourage community participation and initiative in environmental and ecological movements and actions; and
5. Develop among members and the community proper environmental values, skills and attitudes
✅The following programs, projects and activities may form part of the regular undertaking of the Youth for Environment in Schools (YES) Organization:
1. Clean-Up Drive inside and surrounding the school premises, including public and common areas in the community
2. Waste Management, Segregation and Recycling Program
3. Awareness Campaigns to Address Specific Issues such as Pollution, Sanitation and Health
4. Symposia/Trainings
5. Nursery Establishment and Tree-Planting Activities
6. Fun Run for the Environment
7. Youth for Environment Summer Camp
✅All Regional Directors, Schools Division Superintendents and School Principals/Heads are encouraged to organize, support and cooperate in the establishment and strengthening of the Youth for Environment in Schools (YES) Organization in their respective areas of jurisdiction and schools. Their support to the Youth for Environment Summer (YES) Camp in all levels as a major activity of the YES-O is hereby encouraged
✅The Regional and Division Education Supervisors in Science, as Regional and Division Coordinators respectively, shall lead, coordinate and monitor the conduct of activities pertinent to the YES Organization in their respective areas of jurisdiction. The Science Department Head/Coordinator and Teacher, herein designated as School-Based Moderator and Assistant School-Based Moderator respectively, shall lead and operationalize the YES activities in the school level with the guidance of the School Head/Principal
✅In the operationalization of the YES-O, coordination with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), particularly the DENR Regional Youth Desk Officers and other offices, is encouraged
