“The biggest crocodile ever held in captivity, also the largest crocodile ever properly measured, Lolong, a saltwater crocodile, stretched an astonishing 6.17 meters (20 feet 3 inches) and weighed a colossal 1,075 kg (2,370 lb). In 2011, his immense size caught the attention of the zoologists. Upon careful measurement, scientists confirmed Lolong’s title as the world’s largest captive crocodile. 🎉🐢 Great news: Green turtles are no longer in danger of extinction!

The latest IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, released on 10 October, updated the status of the green sea turtle from 'Endangered' to 'Least Concern'.

Since the 1970s, thanks to decades of sustained conservation action, the global green turtle population has increased by 28%, despite ongoing threats.

“The ongoing global recovery of the green turtle is a powerful example of what coordinated global conservation over decades can achieve to stabilise and even restore populations of long-lived marine species. Such approaches must focus not only on the turtles, but on keeping their habitats healthy, and their ecological functions intact. Sea turtles cannot survive without healthy oceans and coasts, and humans can’t either. Sustained conservation efforts are key to assuring that this recovery lasts,” said Roderic Mast, Co-Chair of IUCN’s Species Survival Commission Marine Turtle Specialist Group.

The Mindoro Bleeding-heart 🕊️is bird that lives deep in Mindoro's forests🌳. Its beauty evokes feelings of pride and sorrow. Its eye-catching red patch, which resembles a bleeding wound, quietly conveys a message of loss and survival. Due to habitat destruction from hunting and deforestation, this peaceful dove, which was once common in the island's lush lowlands, is now fighting for its life. The Mindoro Bleeding-heart, more than just an endangered species, represents the delicate relationship between humans and the natural world. Let's preserve what's left so that Mindoro's forests can be filled with the gentle cooing of this priceless bird.

| September 20, 2025 San Teodoro NHS YES-O, together with BFP, MENRO, and STNHS teachers, led a coastal cleanup in Barangay Lumangbayan and Barangay Poblacion as part of the International Coastal Cleanup.

These volunteers from different organizations gathered to restore the beauty of our coastlines, working together to protect our marine life from pollution.

Big thanks to the endless support of Barangays Poblacion and Lumangbayan in protecting and cleaning our coastline.

Let’s join together to keep our marine life clean and bright. Every small act counts. Thank you for being part of the movement for cleaner and brighter coastlines.
