Ngayong araw ay inaalala ang pagkadeklara ng Martial Law sa ating bansa makalipas ang limampu’t apat (54) na taon. Matatandaan na ito ay opisyal na itinalaga noong ika-21 ng Setyembre, taong 1972. Ang pagkakatatag ng Batas Militar ay isang hindi makalilimutang bahagi ng ating kasaysayan na siyang nagpahirap at kumitil sa buhay ng maraming Pilipino.

Ang mga katotohanang ito ay patuloy na binabago sa paglipas ng panahon, katulad na lamang ng pagsusulong na matanggal ang salitang "diktador" sa mga modules ng ating mga mag-aaral na kung saan nakasulat ang mga ito bilang "diktaduryang Marcos". Isa lamang ito sa marami pang bagay na patuloy na nangyayari at ginagawa sa ating bansa upang baguhin ang katotohanan at burahin ang kasaysayan.

Sa araw na ito, tayo ay naninindigan na ang tunay na pagiging progresibo, makabayan at maunlad ay nasusukat sa kaunlarang naibabahagi sa mga mamamayan, at hindi sa mga katotohanang pilit na binabago at binabaluktot para sa pansariling interest at kapakanan ng iilan.

Today, we honor the the bravery of the people of fought for our freedom. In solidarity with the celebration of National Heroes Day this August, let's recognize some of the Filipino heroes who fought for our country against the invaders. We now enjoy our freedom because of their determination, courage and intelligence.
