A MANGYAN from the Tribe of Hanunuo, in the mountainous area of Occidental Mindoro. The Hanunuoos are one of the 7 Mangyan tribes on the island of Mindoro.
The simplicity of their way of living did not stop him from dreaming of having a college degree. He studied, prayed hard, and did everything to continue his studies. Enduring long walks through rugged terrain, with no food packed for school meals, was the norm of his daily life as a student. During those years, He prayed unceasingly for God to lead a sponsor his way to fulfill his dream, to guide him in making the right decisions, and to lead him to the path He wanted him to take. And if God answers his prayer, he promised to take up Theology so he can best serve God. He was in 2nd year of college taking up a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture at Occidental Mindoro State College when he met the president of Maranatha Help Ministries Philippines, Inc. during our visit to their tribe. He was offered a scholarship with board and lodging. He proved to be a deserving scholar who studied hard and met all the requirements to pass and eventually graduate.
By God’s grace, he is graduating! Glory be to God!
