Open Letter to the Mr. Teen Laguna 2026 Organizing Committee
The recently concluded Mr. Teen Laguna 2026 pageant held on July 4, 2026, at Sunstar Mall, Sta. Cruz, Laguna, has left many supporters, candidates, and members of the community deeply concerned. While the event showcased talent, charisma, and advocacy, it unfortunately fell short in upholding the credibility, fairness, and integrity expected of a provincial pageant of this scale. The delays and questionable tabulation process cast a shadow over what should have been a celebration of youth and excellence.
It is disheartening to note that many deserving candidates did not make it to the Top 15 semi-finalists, largely due to the committeeβs failure to properly educate the judges on the scoring mechanism. The manual computation of scores, which took 35 minutes to announce the Top 15 and nearly an hour to determine the Top 7 finalists, reflects a lack of preparation and professionalism. Such inefficiency not only undermines the candidatesβ efforts but also erodes public trust in the pageantβs integrity.
A provincial pageant carries with it the responsibility of setting high standards. Incompetence in tabulation is unacceptable and inevitably leads to questions about the legitimacy of the winners. While we value the effort, showmanship, and grace of those who emerged victorious, transparency in how results are achieved is equally important. Without it, the credibility of the competition is compromised, and the honor bestowed upon the winners becomes questionable.
To prevent this from happening again, the committee must adopt clear and professional solutions. First, invest in a digital tabulation system that ensures accuracy and efficiency. Second, conduct thorough orientation sessions for judges to fully understand the scoring criteria and mechanics. Third, appoint an independent auditing team to oversee the tabulation process, ensuring impartiality and transparency. Finally, establish a clear communication protocol so that delays and confusion are minimized during the event.
The Mr. Teen Laguna pageant is more than just a competition, it is a platform for young men to showcase their talents, advocacies, and leadership potential. By addressing these issues and implementing the proposed solutions, the organizing committee can restore confidence in the pageant and ensure that future editions truly reflect fairness, integrity, and excellence. The community deserves nothing less, and the candidates deserve a stage where their hard work and dreams are honored with credibility.
