Reaping the Fruits of Kindness
A Year-End Message from RAK’s Co-Founder and Team Leader Frederick Laping
"You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours." — Psalm 128:2
Like a sturdy tree, Random Act of Kindness (RAK) as a movement has deepened its roots over the years. It has pushed through the soil of our professed principles and values: taking care of the environment and the marginalized.
Slowly, over the past 16 years, we have witnessed its organic growth alongside the shared experiences of the forgotten and the unreached. By being planted on the "right ground"—soil rich with abiding faith, unquenchable hope, and a passion to care—we have come of age. We are now bearing fruit in season, reaping the very harvest of our labors.
In terms of the hustle and the anxieties we faced, Pasko Fiesta 2025 was no different from years past. However, this year posed a unique challenge: as a team, we were unable to spearhead the major events that usually ensure a successful Pasko Fiesta. In fact, there were almost none, save for a single fundraising climb that was pushed through by means of pure collaboration.
Yet, despite the scarcity of events, the abundance of heart remained. As I noted in our recent message of gratitude to our donors, sponsors and volunteers:
"2025 is very different, as it has been for the past years. Each year offers different glimpses of realities. This year is unique and blessed because we have reaped the fruit of our kindness and of our faith—because we didn't give up hope for ourselves, for each other, and for the country."
This sentiment summarizes the challenges RAK has faced through the years. It tells the story of how we survived to carry out what we believe in: sowing and rippling kindness. We are reaping the fruits now because of our unyielding slogan-turned-value: to climb—and thereby care as one.
What was remarkable this year, as experienced in the recently concluded Pasko Fiesta, is that the ripples of kindness are now returning to us. They are bearing fruit for an even more intensified and impactful Random Acts of Kindness for 2026.
Let Psalm 128:2 be our inspiration and remembrance: No random act of kindness, no matter how minute or small, is without fruit. By God's grace, it will grow.
Let's share the fruits in 2026.
