Catholics for Reproductive Health started as Catholic Voices – a small group comprised of LDM local staff, HAIN staff, the FORUM staff, and a couple of LDM fellows convened meetings to discuss further and share reproductive health and sexuality and concern. From these meetings emerged the seeds to form a group of alternative voices for Catholics. With the heightened discussion on RH during the ca

mpaign for the passage of the RH bill and the aggressive anti-RH campaigning of the Catholic Church hierarchy during the commemorative year of the 40th anniversary of Humanae Vitae, LDM Philippines initiated the formation of a core group of seven members to speak out. Movement was launched in August 13, 2008 in historic Intramuros, Manila, coinciding with media training that included a memorable walking tour of the walled city with famed tour guide Carlos Celdran. As the core group of Catholic RH advocates evolved: from Catholic Voices to Catholics for RH Speak Out! Movement to Catholics for RH, LDM responded by supporting its various activities. Capacity building activities, such as the Media Communications Training with Catholics for Choice, were provided for members and other RH leaders to improve their engagement with media. A series of for a on Puso, Puson, Pananampalataya at Pulitika was done in key areas of the country before the May 2010 elections. More importantly, strategic planning sessions was held in 2010 with key area coordinators to map out future plans and actions. From a small group of 7, C4RH has now grown in membership with more than 500 Catholics proudly saying that “I am Catholic and I support the right to Reproductive Health.”
