We scroll when we're bored.
We scroll when we're stressed.
We scroll when we're lonely.

Sometimes, we scroll without even realizing how much time has passed.

But here's the question...
Are you using social media, or is social media using you?

You have the freedom to scroll.
You have the freedom to watch.
You have the freedom to choose.

But...

Who is really in control?

“THE HIDDEN LIFE BEHIND THE HIGHLIGHTED REEL”
(When Comparison Steals Our Identity)
📖 1 Samuel 16:7; 2 Corinthians 10:12
📱 Scrolling Life: Who’s Really in Control? / Session 3

Have you ever scrolled through social media, then suddenly felt like something was wrong with your life?

Nakikita natin ang achievements ng iba, ang magandang relationships nila, ang kanilang progress, opportunities, at success. Tapos bigla nating maitatanong:
“Bakit parang sila umaasenso na, pero ako nandito pa rin?”
“Lord, bakit parang naiwan na ako?”

Minsan, hindi naman natin gustong mawala ang blessings ng ibang tao. Nasasaktan lang tayo dahil habang tinitingnan natin ang buhay nila, unti-unti nating nakakalimutan kung sino tayo.

Comparison slowly changes the way we see ourselves.
Unti-unting binabago ng comparison kung paano natin nakikita ang ating halaga, identity, purpose, at calling.

Pero ito ang kailangan nating tandaan:
Social media is good at showing moments, but it is bad at showing the whole story.

Nakikita natin ang graduation picture, pero hindi ang anxiety at sleepless nights. Nakikita natin ang relationship anniversary, pero hindi ang misunderstandings at struggles. Nakikita natin ang achievement, pero hindi ang failures, rejection, waiting, at tears behind the success.

Life is not just a highlight reel. Life is a whole story.

1. Comparison makes us forget that God sees what others cannot see.
Habang ang tao ay tumitingin sa appearance, achievements, followers, at platform, ang Diyos ay tumitingin sa puso.

Tulad ni David, maaaring hindi tayo ang unang mapansin ng tao. Maaaring hindi tayo ang pinaka-impressive, pinaka-popular, o pinaka-talented. Pero nakikita ng Diyos ang pusong willing, faithful, at surrendered sa Kanya.

Hindi natin kailangang i-compare ang sarili natin sa iba, dahil hindi naghahanap ang Diyos ng pinaka-perfect na image. Ang hinahanap Niya ay pusong handang magpagamit sa Kanya.

2. Comparison creates a fake version of ourselves.

Kapag palagi nating kinukumpara ang sarili natin sa iba, may tendency tayong gumawa ng image na hindi naman talaga tayo.

Gusto nating ipakita na okay tayo kahit hindi. Gusto nating magmukhang strong kahit pagod na. Gusto nating ipakita na masaya tayo kahit may mga hidden battles tayong tahimik na nilalabanan.

Pero hindi natin kailangang gumawa ng fake version ng ating sarili para tanggapin tayo ng Diyos.

People may only see our highlights, but God sees our whole story.

Nakikita Niya ang mga luha na hindi natin pino-post, ang effort na walang pumapalakpak, at ang mga panalanging tayo lamang at Siya ang nakakaalam.

3. God’s acceptance gives us freedom from comparison.

Bago pa tayo magkaroon ng achievement, minahal na tayo ng Diyos. Bago pa tayo mapansin ng tao, kilala na tayo ng Diyos. Bago pa natin mapatunayan ang sarili natin, tinanggap na tayo ni Cristo.

Our identity comes before achievement.

Hindi nagsimula ang halaga ni David nang isuot niya ang korona. May halaga na siya habang nasa pastulan pa lamang dahil nakita at tinawag na siya ng Diyos.

Ang tunay nating value ay hindi nanggagaling sa likes, followers, achievements, o opinion ng tao. Ito ay nanggagaling sa pag-ibig ng Diyos at sa identity natin kay Cristo.

4. Instead of comparing, we are called to cultivate.

Hindi natin kailangang gugulin ang buhay natin sa pagtingin kung gaano na kalayo ang narating ng iba.

Habang abala tayong tumitingin sa garden ng ibang tao, baka nakakalimutan na nating diligan at alagaan ang sarili nating garden.

May sariling season ang Diyos para sa atin. May sarili Siyang timing, proseso, at purpose.

Hindi dahil nasa chapter 3 pa lamang tayo habang ang iba ay nasa chapter 10 na, ibig sabihin ay naiwan na tayo. Ang Diyos ang Author ng ating buhay, at may dahilan ang bawat chapter ng ating story.

Kaya huwag nating ikumpara ang ating behind-the-scenes sa highlight reel ng ibang tao.

Celebrate their blessings, but stay faithful to your own calling. Stop comparing and start cultivating the gifts, relationships, character, and purpose God has entrusted to you.

FINAL TAKEAWAY
Do not compare your real life with someone else’s edited life, because God is not looking for a perfect image. He is building a surrendered heart.

Hindi natin kailangang maging ibang tao para gamitin ng Diyos. Kailangan lang nating maging taong tapat, sumusunod, at nagpapasakop sa Kanya.

People may see your highlights, but God sees your whole story. Stop comparing. Start trusting. Your identity is not found in how you look to people, but in how God sees you.

YOUTH SERVICE RECAP | JULY 26, 2026

Series: Scrolling Life
Message Title: The Identity Filter: Who Are You Without Likes?

Last Sunday, we were reminded that our worth is never measured by likes, followers, views, or the opinions of people. In a world that constantly seeks validation online, God calls us to find our identity in Him alone.

Here are the truths we learned:

1. Don't live for the approval of people instead, seek God's approval above all else. (Galatians 1:10)
2. Your value is not determined by comparison because God created you uniquely for His purpose. (1 Samuel 16:7)
3. Your identity comes from God. Before the world ever knew you, He already knew, loved, and valued you. (Psalm 139:14)

Our challenge this week:
Remove the filters of comparison and validation. See yourself the way God sees you, and let your identity be rooted in Christ—not in the opinions of the world.

May we always remember: your likes may change, your followers may change, but God's love and your identity in Him never will.

To God be all the glory! 🤍

PAUSE MUNA SA PAG-SCROLL. 📱

Baka hindi lang oras ang nauubos habang nasa feed ka.
Baka pati ang confidence mo, peace mo, at pagkakakilala mo sa sarili mo ay unti-unti nang ninanakaw ng COMPARISON.

Nakikita mo ang achievements nila.
Ang ganda ng pictures nila.
Ang saya ng relationship nila.
Ang dami nilang opportunities.
Mukhang alam na nila kung saan papunta ang buhay nila.

Tapos mapapatingin ka sa sarili mo at mapapatanong:

“Bakit parang ang layo na nila?”
“Bakit ako parang stuck pa rin?”
“Lord, kailan naman ako?”
“May halaga ba talaga ako?”

Pero ito ang madalas nating nakakalimutan:
WE ARE COMPARING OUR REAL LIFE WITH SOMEONE ELSE’S EDITED MOMENT.

Nakikita natin ang picture, pero hindi ang pressure.
Nakikita natin ang achievement, pero hindi ang failures.
Nakikita natin ang smile, pero hindi ang hidden battles.
Nakikita natin ang highlight reel, pero hindi ang buong story.

At habang ang tao ay nakatingin sa panlabas, ang Diyos ay tumitingin sa puso.

Ngayong Sunday, magiging honest tayo tungkol sa comparison, insecurity, fake perfection, at sa pressure na kailangan nating patunayan ang ating worth sa ibang tao.

Pag-uusapan natin kung paano tayo makakalaya mula sa buhay na palaging nakatingin sa ginagawa ng iba, at kung paano natin muling makikita ang sarili natin ayon sa mata ng Diyos.

Because people may see your highlights, BUT GOD SEES YOUR WHOLE STORY.

Hindi mo kailangang maging copy ng ibang tao.
Hindi mo kailangang makipag-unahan sa timeline nila.
Hindi mo kailangang magpanggap na okay ka para lamang tanggapin.

YOU WERE CREATED WITH PURPOSE. YOU ARE SEEN BY GOD. AND YOUR IDENTITY IS SAFER IN HIS HANDS THAN IN THE OPINIONS OF PEOPLE.

YOUTH SERVICE RECAP | July 20, 2026
Series: Scrolling Life: Who Is Really In Control?
Message Title: When Scrolling Became Your Silence Before God

Last Sunday, We were reminded that social media is not the enemy but distraction is. While technology and social media can be used for good, they become dangerous when they slowly take the place that belongs to God.

Through Psalm 46:1–11 and Matthew 6:6, we learned that God calls us to intentionally seek His presence rather than allowing distractions to consume our attention.

Through God's Word, we learned that:

1. Social media is not the enemy—distraction is.
Social media can be a tool for communication, learning, and even sharing God's Word. However, when it becomes our source of validation, identity, purpose, or peace, it begins to pull our hearts away from God.

2. "Be still" is an active decision to trust God.
In Psalm 46, God's command to "be still" is not about doing nothing. It is choosing to surrender what we cannot control, stop relying on our own strength, and intentionally seek Him.

3. Distraction is deceptive.
It doesn't announce that it is pulling us away from God. Instead, it quietly consumes our time until we no longer realize how far we've drifted from His presence.

4. Distraction may offer temporary relief, but only God gives lasting peace.
The world tells us to escape, but Jesus invites us to come to Him. While distraction may help us forget our burdens for a moment, only God can transform our hearts and give us true peace.

5. God calls us to choose Quiet Time over Screen Time.
Jesus reminds us in Matthew 6:6 to intentionally set aside distractions and spend time with our Heavenly Father. Our relationship with God grows when we choose His presence over endless scrolling.

Our challenge this week:
"Choose Quiet Time over Screen Time. Seek God intentionally every day."

May every young person remember this truth:
You were not created to be controlled by distraction.
You were not created to find your identity in the world.
You were created to know God, seek His presence, and live for His glory.
Social media is not our enemy, but our enemy can use it to distract us from God.

NEW SERIES: SCROLLING LIFE — WHO'S REALLY IN CONTROL?

We all use social media. We scroll, watch, like, share, and connect. There's nothing wrong with using it.

But here's the question:

Are you controlling social media... or is it slowly controlling you?

Social media itself is not the enemy. Distraction is.

Distraction slowly steals our attention from God. It weakens our hunger for His Word, lessens our desire for His presence, and fills the silence that was meant for prayer with endless scrolling.

What happens when scrolling becomes our silence before God?

God is calling us to turn away from the things that compete for our attention. He calls us not to live distracted, but to be still before Him, to seek Him first, and to find our satisfaction in His presence.

📖 THE END IS NOT THE END. IT'S THE START OF IMPACT.

Natapos na ang Biblical Worldview series, pero hindi dito nagtatapos ang journey natin.

Sa mga nakaraang linggo, natutunan natin na ang pagiging Kristiyano ay hindi lang tungkol sa pag-alam ng tama. It's about seeing God, ourselves, other people, and the world through the lens of God's Word.

Maraming boses ang maririnig natin araw-araw. Maraming opinions, trends, at standards ang gustong humubog sa atin. Pero bilang followers of Christ, pinili nating hayaan ang Salita ng Diyos ang maging foundation ng paraan ng ating pag-iisip at pamumuhay.

Our prayer is that this series won't just remain as another lesson we attended, but magiging lifestyle natin ito. Sa school, sa work, sa bahay, sa church, at kahit saan tayo dalhin ng Diyos, mamuhay tayo na may Biblical worldview.

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." — Romans 12:2

This is not the end.
✨ It's the start of impact, a start of living a new Perspective.

🧠 Think Biblically.
❤️ Love Deeply.
✝️ Live Like Christ.
