🚨 The infamous Volkswagen Jetta has been impounded by the LTO... again.
Six months after it made headlines for allegedly using unauthorized blinkers and appearing to pose as a diplomatic vehicle, the same Volkswagen Jetta is back in LTO custody - this time after the agency says it was found using a fake license plate.
According to the LTO, the vehicle’s real license plates and an improvised plate were later recovered from the trunk. The agency has since impounded the vehicle once again and issued a new Show-Cause Order to the registered owner and driver.
The latest Show-Cause Order directs the driver to explain why they should not be held administratively liable for alleged violations including:
‼️ Driving Without a Valid Driver’s License
‼️Improper Use or Tampering of License Plates
‼️ Being declared an Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle.
Here’s a simplified timeline of the case:
📅 January 10: The Volkswagen Jetta went viral after it was allegedly caught on camera using unauthorized blinkers and a siren while appearing to pose as a diplomatic vehicle to get through traffic.
📅 January 12: The LTO issued a Show-Cause Order, placed the driver’s license under a 90-day preventive suspension, and put the vehicle under alarm status while the case was being investigated.
📅 January 15: The LTO located and impounded the Volkswagen Jetta, confiscated the driver’s license, and cited additional violations including an expired registration, improper license plates, and unauthorized vehicle accessories.
📅 January 21: According to a later LTO enforcement update, the agency signed a resolution revoking the driver’s license for two years.
📅 July 11: The LTO announced that the same vehicle had been impounded again after it was allegedly found using a fake license plate. The agency says the genuine plates matching the vehicle’s registration were recovered from the trunk.
