Demonstrating a strong commitment to civic governance, the United Architects of the Philippines – La Union Chapter participated in the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Steering Committee Orientation and Flagship Program Enhancement Workshop at the SP Annex Hall last July 23, 2026.

Organized by the Office of the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator, the workshop convened government officials—led by Gov. Mario Eduardo C. Ortega—and key civil society organizations to advance participatory governance.

A core objective was enhancing the KADUA Volunteerism Program, established under Provincial Ordinance No. 526-2026 (Volunteerism Code of La Union). Meaning "companion" in Ilocano, KADUA seeks to promote civic responsibility, harness local skills, and recognize volunteer contributions across the province.
During the hands-on Values & Legislation Workshop, UAP La Union collaborated with partners like the Philippine Red Cross, DMMMSU, CURMA and other NGOs and government agencies like BFP and DILG to address operational bottlenecks, digital constraints, and volunteer retention strategies.

By serving on the OGP Steering Committee, UAP La Union highlights the crucial role of architects in shaping sustainable built environments, fostering civic engagement, and driving inclusive development throughout La Union.

Stepping from academia into the professional realm can be daunting for new architecture graduates. To help bridge this gap, the United Architects of the Philippines Graduate Auxiliary (UAPGA) La Union Chapter headed by Ms. Galaxy Rivera,rmp, hosted Arkiforum 1.0 Connext on July 19, 2026 via Google Meet.

The virtual forum gave over 20 aspiring architects an insightful preview of their upcoming apprenticeship period. Featuring distinguished guest speakers from the UAP La Union Chapter, the event offered practical wisdom from seasoned leaders:

• Ar. Joyvee Miranda Niduaza (Chapter President, FY 2026–2027)
• Ar. Rhodel Carolino (Immediate Past President)
• Ar. Jill Krenzel Umalicruz (Chapter Secretary)

Each speaker shared real-world experiences, practical advice, and personal stories from their professional journeys. The session quickly evolved into an interactive dialogue as graduates asked pressing questions about logbook documentation, mentor expectations, firm dynamics, and board exam preparation.

It is deeply gratifying to see Arkiforum 1.0 achieve complete strategic alignment with all 10 Key Goals of the UAP Long-Range Plan. By addressing everything from legal compliance and mentorship to digital innovation and practice readiness, this initiative proves that collaboration of the GA and the local chapter can drive the national vision forward for the next generation of architects.

The United Architects of the Philippines La Union Chapter officially opened its fiscal year with its 1st General Membership Meeting on July 18, 2026, at Gefseis Greek Grill in San Juan, La Union. Generously sponsored by Starken AAC Blocks, the gathering brought together members for an evening of vision, innovation, and professional unity.

Appropriately themed "The Launching," the meeting served as the platform to present the chapter's strategic roadmap for FY 2026–2027, focusing on professional growth, community engagement, and sustainable architectural practices. The night also featured the official unveiling of the chapter's sleek new uniform, giving members a fresh identity for the year ahead.

Adding energy and charm to the program, host Ar. Rossano Bobby Baradi, euap kept the crowd captivated, keeping interactions lively and making the event deeply engaging for everyone present. Support from Starken AAC Blocks further highlighted the strong collaboration between local architects and industry pioneers.

Beyond the agenda, members reconnected over shared aspirations. Guided by great leadership and high spirits, "The Launching" successfully set a vibrant, collaborative foundation for an impactful year ahead for UAP La Union.

Every child deserves the chance to grow, learn, and thrive. To celebrate Nutrition Month, the Inner Wheel Club of San Fernando, La Union (IWCSFLU), the Rotary Club of San Fernando, La Union (RCSFLU), and the United Architects of the Philippines – La Union Chapter (UAP-LU) launched the 120-school-day feeding program, “Isang Itlog, Isang Araw,” at Santiago Elementary School on July 13, 2026.

The program supports 20 selected Grade 2 students. Over the next six months (120 school days), these children will receive a daily nutritious egg dish, a healthy snack, a glass of milk, and essential vitamins to fuel their health, growth, and classroom success.

Now in its fourth consecutive year of dedicated service to this cause, UAP-LU remains deeply committed to sustaining this life-changing initiative.

To formalize the partnership, UAP-LU Vice President for Programs & Development Ar. Socrates Galdones signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) alongside leaders from IWCSFLU, RCSFLU, and Santiago Elementary School. UAP-LU Director Ar. EJ Ian Rendz Santos and Past District Director Ar. Florendo Santos also attended the launch, standing in solidarity with the community to nourish young minds and build brighter futures.

On the afternoon of July 8, 2026, the United Architects of the Philippines La Union Chapter hosted a warm Meet and Greet at Midway Grill to celebrate and welcome the June 2026 LEA passers from Saint Louis College (SLC), San Fernando City, La Union.

​Initiated by Ar. Rinaldi Gamayo and Ar. Julius Gaceta, the event brought together UAPLU leaders and members—including CP Ar. Joyvee Miranda Niduaza and several Past Presidents and officers —to mingle with and mentor the new board passers. More than just a celebration, the gathering highlighted the chapter’s commitment to community, excellence, and supporting the next generation of architects.

Riding the Waves: Kids Dream Surf 2026 Empowers Differently-Abled Youth in La Union

SAN JUAN, LA UNION — The shores of Urbiztondo, San Juan came alive with smiles last July 3 as the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) La Union Chapter joined Healthpro Therapy Center, Southern Ilocos Sur Medical Society, the Inner Wheel Club of La Union South, Provincial Government of La Union and other NGOs in hosting the Kids Dream Surf 2026 for the differently-abled children of La Union.

Together with various service partners, the organizations created a safe, inclusive environment filled with empowering beachside activities:
Surfing Sessions: Guided by local instructors, the children experienced the thrill of riding the waves, boosting their confidence and breaking barriers.
* Beachside Fun: On the shore, the kids enjoyed creative building block activities and supervised swimming sessions.
* Sumptuous Feast: The partners treated all participants, parents, and volunteers to a bounty of delicious snacks and hearty meals.
* Gifts of Joy: Beyond the activities and food, the kids and their families were blessed with thoughtfully packed groceries and fun toys to bring home.
