‎ The 𝘣𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘩𝘢𝘯 spirit ignited as the YES-O, fellow club officers, and the dedicated teachers of SJSHS-SA held a tree and vegetable planting activity last June 12, 2026. This activity served as a meaningful tribute to the celebration of 𝟏𝟐𝟖𝐭𝐡 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐲 at San Juan Senior High School-Stand Alone.

Sa pagdiriwang ng ika-128 na Araw ng Kalayaan ng Pilipinas na may temang “𝑲𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒂𝒂𝒏, 𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒃𝒖𝒌𝒂𝒔𝒂𝒏, 𝑲𝒂𝒔𝒂𝒚𝒔𝒂𝒚𝒂𝒏,” ating alalahanin at parangalan ang kabayanihan at sakripisyo ng mga bayaning nagbuwis ng buhay para sa ating kalayaan. Nawa’y magsilbi itong paalala na pahalagahan ang ating kasaysayan, gamitin nang wasto ang ating kalayaan, at magkaisa sa paghubog ng isang mas maunlad at makatarungang kinabukasan para sa bawat Pilipino. 🇵🇭

‎January 24, 2026 || Environmental initiative took over the shores of Barangays Dalumpinas Oeste and Lingsat as the YES-O officers of San Juan Senior High School—Stand Alone joined forces with DOERs and the Benguet State University to conduct a purposeful beach clean-up.
‎
‎The sun had not yet risen but our volunteers were already awake, ready to conquer the responsibility of a youth individual with a purpose to make the future cleaner! These youth leaders demonstrated unity to achieve our goals to save our future by doing small but meaningful actions.

‎Let's keep our coastlines cleaner and brighter—one piece of trash at a time— together, we can make it better!🍃💪🏻

‎We’re swapping the exam stress for some fresh air and community service. We’re tired, but our campus has never looked better.

San Juan Senior High School-Stand Alone's Journey Towards the Green Tomorrow

Amidst the global discussion on environmental challenges, San Juan Senior High School-Stand Alone in San Juan, La Union, stands out as a remarkable example of environmental stewardship. The recent nomination of SJSHS-SA for the Gawad Kalikha-San 2024 by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources - Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB) - Region 1 shows the school's strong dedication to sustainability and caring for the environment. This highlights the hardwork of the school's teachers, and students in creating and supporting eco-friendly habits and projects. Their collective efforts to reduce wastes, save resources, and teach youth about taking care of the environment are truly inspiring.

On July 9, 2024, the DENR Region 1 Composite Team, visited SJSHS-SA for a thorough document review and on-site validation. Under the guidance of Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O) adviser, Dr. Cristita C. Ferrer, SJSHS-SA has introduced several creative environmental projects and programs. The collaboration among the administration led by the school Principal III, Dr. Mayulyn O. Garcia, teaching and non-teaching staff, learners, and stakeholders in carrying out these projects, demonstrates the school's commitment to sustainable practices.

Through the school's programs, teachers taught students the importance of conservation, recycling, and sustainable habits. By establishing these principles in them at a young age, the school ensures that they will become environmentally responsible citizens in the future. Students actively participate in promoting eco-friendly practices and environmental protection through practical activities and educational initiatives. The active participation of the school creates a strong commitment to ecological preservation.

The nomination of SJSHS-SA for the Gawad Kalikha-San 2024 inspires everyone to prioritize environmental stewardship. It shows that meaningful change is possible through collaboration and innovation. San Juan Senior High School- Stand Alone illustrates that with determination and collective effort, we can make a substantial impact to our environment. The Gawad Kalikha-San 2024 nomination not only honors SJSHS-SA achievements but also emphasizes the role of every teacher and student in safeguarding the environment.
