Wood is naturally hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs moisture from the air and releases it as humidity changes. That is why wooden doors, furniture, and floors may swell during the rainy season and shrink when the air is dry.

Knowing how wood responds to its environment helps us better value forest resources and use them responsibly.

Panahon na naman ng tag-ulan, kaya huwag kalimutang mag-ingat palagi!

Ano nga ba ang HEAT INDEX?

Kapag mainit ang araw, hindi lang ang temperatura ang makaka-apekto sa pakiramdam natin. Pati ang halumigmig o moisture ng hangin ay mahalaga. Kaya kahit hindi mataas ang temperatura, maaaring magmukhang sobrang init na parang 40°C o higit pa! 🌞🥵

Sa mga lugar tulad ng Metro Manila, Laguna, at Cavite, aabot sa 43°C ang heat index sa araw na ito (March 5)! Kaya mag-ingat at huwag kalimutan magtubig, magpayong, at magsuot ng magaan na damit! 🌞💦

Alam mo ba? Ang mga ganitong matinding init ay isa sa mga epekto ng climate change. Habang patuloy ang pagtaas ng temperatura ng mundo, lalong tumataas ang heat index. Ibig sabihin, mas madalas at mas matindi ang mga araw ng init. Kaya mahalaga na tayo ay magtulungan upang protektahan ang ating kalikasan at maiwasan pa ang mga ganitong epekto. 🌍💚

Guy McPherson is a scientist and teacher who studies how climate change affects the planet. He talks about the importance of protecting nature and even changed his own lifestyle to live more simply and closer to nature.
