He holds a Master of Science in Food Science and a Master of Business Administration, and earned a PhD in Business Administration. As an educator, consultant, trainer, and entrepreneur, he specializes in food safety, quality management, regulatory compliance, product development, and industry training. He is President of King Solomon Certifications and Training Services Inc. Through his work, Dr. King advocates practical, science-based solutions that empower students, strengthen food enterprises, and promote safer food systems.

As the founder of Growth Holistics, she helps sustainability and impact-focused founders and companies amplify their digital presence. Among her clients are leading global food innovation platforms including Green Queen Media and Forward Fooding. Her background spans food technology, research, and tech startups, complemented by specialized trainings & fellowships from Climate Reality Project, Climatebase, European Institute of Innovation for Sustainability, and University of Ferrara. In 2026, she launched her flagship course, Tanging Tahanan, a climate leadership program designed for the Philippines.

🌱 PFT JOURNEY | Real Stories. Real Passions. Real Impact.
Sometimes, a career begins with curiosity—but it is purpose that makes us stay.

Meet Sheena Marie M. Marjolino, PFT, BS Food Technology Program Coordinator at Laguna State Polytechnic University, with 14 years in the industry. Her journey into Food Technology began during her college application, but over time, the profession became much more than a degree or career path.

Like many young professionals, Sheena faced the challenge of finding an opportunity in the field she truly wanted—Research and Development. Instead of giving up, she gave herself time to learn, respected the mentors who guided her, and continued building genuine passion for the profession. Her story reminds us that when we work with integrity, believe in our capabilities, and give our best, growth follows.

Today, the dream she carried from college remains clear: to help feed the nation and contribute to food systems that nourish both people and the planet. Beyond her role as an educator, she continues to mentor future Food Technologists, lead, advocate for sustainability, and serve the community.

Dr. Karen Kristine A. Roscom is Director of the Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (BAFS) at the Department of Agriculture, Philippines. In this role, she leads the strategic development and implementation of Philippine National Standards across agricultural and fishery products and machinery. She concurrently serves as Chairperson of the Technical Working Group for the Department's Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS) and is the primary Focal Person for Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI), driving evidence-based policymaking and inclusive governance. A Professional Food Technologist holding a PhD in Leadership Studies, Dr. Roscom possesses extensive expertise in food safety, technical regulation, policy formulation, and institutional governance. Her background is strengthened by significant bilateral and international engagements. An alumna of the University of the Philippines Diliman and Ateneo de Manila University, Dr. Roscom is dedicated to advancing science-based standards, regulatory excellence, and women's empowerment across the agri-fishery sector.

𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿:
Dr. Anthony C. Sales is a Food Technologist, researcher, and seasoned public servant with over three decades of service in the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). He began his career in 1992 and rose to become the Regional Director of DOST Region XI in 2009. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Food Technology as a PNB-PEMA Scholar and his Master’s in Food Science, major in Food Microbiology, as a DOST Scholar from the University of the Philippines Diliman. He later obtained his Ph.D. in Mycotoxicology from Ehime University, Japan, under the Monbukagakusho Scholarship, and a Master’s Degree in Management from UP Mindanao, graduating with Academic Excellence. His research on aflatoxins and mycotoxins has been published in international journals such as the Journal of Food Protection and Food Additives and Contaminants, and he has served as a reviewer for the Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture (UK). As Regional Director, Dr. Sales has led the implementation of innovative, high-impact, community-based programs in technology transfer, consultancy, laboratory services, and capacity-building. He has been instrumental in initiatives like the Hydrology for Environment, Life and Policy (HELP)-Davao Network, and pioneered the DOST S&T Halal Program and the GRIND (Grassroots Innovation for Inclusive Development) Program, which forged partnerships with UNESCO, UNDP, and ICHARM for capacity development in Mindanao. A multi-awarded leader, Dr. Sales was named the lone recipient of the 2024 Presidential Gawad Career Executive Service (CES) Award, the highest honor for career executives in the Philippine government, recognizing his exemplary performance and significant contributions to public service. In 2025, he was further honored with the LEAD Award (Leaders and Achievers of Davao) for his outstanding contributions to Science, Innovation, and Environmental Leadership. He is the first DOST Regional Director to be inducted into the National Research Council of the Philippines. His efforts also guided DOST XI to Level 1 and Level 2 recognition under the Philippine Quality Awards and Level 2 of the Performance Governance System as a Gold Trailblazer Awardee. Under his leadership, DOST XI has garnered numerous honors in the past two years, including first-place awards in Gender and Development, Inclusive Leadership, and Occupational Health and Safety, as well as a Regional Lingkod Bayan Award for the GRIND Program. In 2021, Dr. Sales was appointed by former President Rodrigo Duterte as the first-ever Chairperson of the Professional Regulatory Board of Food Technology. He also represented the Philippines and served as a panelist and speaker in various international conferences all throughout Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. Through research, leadership, and inclusive innovation, Dr. Sales continues to champion science and technology for community development, national growth, and public service.

𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿:
Dr. Maria Antonia Tuazon is Senior Nutrition and Agrifood Systems Specialist at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific. With over 30 years of experience in academia and international development across Asia, the Pacific, Africa and the Near East, she has supported more than 50 countries in nutrition policy, food systems transformation and capacity development. She holds degrees from the University of the Philippines Los Baños and Wageningen University, with postgraduate training from Johns Hopkins University. A former UPLB Professor and Dean, she previously served at FAO Headquarters in Rome, leading work on the Minimum Dietary Diversity for Women (MDD-W), now an SDG 2 indicator.
