STRENGTHENING PARTNERSHIPS💙💙

The Pearl S. Buck Foundation Philippines (PSBP) and the Department of Education (DepEd) have officially launched their partnership during a Partnership Forum held on August 13, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Polytechnic Senior High School in San Jose del Monte City (SJDM), Bulacan.

The forum brought together various non-government organizations (NGOs), foundations, and other stakeholders who expressed their willingness to collaborate with DepEd in advancing programs and initiatives that will benefit both learners and educators in SJDM.

The gathering marked an important step toward building stronger partnerships and mobilizing shared resources, expertise, and commitment in support of quality education and the holistic development of learners and educators as well.

Together, we can build stronger partnerships for a brighter future for Filipino children and youth.

NURTURING DREAMS🎓
Seventy-eight (78) college scholars of Pearl S. Buck Foundation Philippines (PSBP), together with their parents and guardians, enthusiastically participated in the annual Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing and Family Life Sessions for School Year 2026–2027.

The activity aims to strengthen a common understanding of the shared responsibilities of PSBP, the scholars, and their families, while fostering open communication, cooperation, and positive relationships between parents/guardians and scholars. Through this partnership, we hope to provide our scholars with the support and encouragement they need as they pursue their educational dreams.

This school year, our 78 scholars from first to fourth year college come from PSBP’s areas of operation in Bulacan, Pampanga, Zambales, and Ormoc City. Each scholar carries not only a personal dream but also the hopes and aspirations of their families and sponsors.

Among them are two remarkable scholars who are pursuing their childhood dreams of becoming a doctor and a lawyer. Their sponsors have generously committed their support to help make these dreams a reality.

Reinalyn N. Ambrocio, RPm, is now in her third year proper at Manila Central University (MCU), pursuing her dream of becoming a doctor.

Mia Joy C. Castillo is a first-year law student at De La Salle University Manila, taking her first steps toward becoming a lawyer.

Their journeys remind us of the powerful impact of education, opportunity, and the unwavering support of caring sponsors.

In few years, PSBP looks forward to celebrating its very first doctor and lawyer alumni!

May our scholars continue to persevere, dream boldly, and strive for excellence. And may our parents, guardians, sponsors, and PSBP family continue to walk alongside them every step of the way.

A NEW CHAPTER OF LEADERSHIP💙
The Pearl S. Buck Foundation Philippines (PSBP) is honored and delighted to welcome Ms. Anne Marie C. Gordon as its newly elected President.

A woman of unwavering commitment to service, Ms. Gordon continues a remarkable legacy of compassion inspired by her late mother-in-law, Amelia J. Gordon, who was recognized as the Pearl S. Buck Woman of the Year in 2002. Mrs. Gordon became known as the loving “Mother” of 54 Amerasian children left behind by American servicemen after the closure of the former Subic Naval Base. Through her extraordinary kindness, she legally adopted and nurtured these children, giving them hope, dignity, and a family.

Following the inspiring example of the late Mrs. Gordon and her husband, James Gordon Jr., Ms. Anne Marie C. Gordon has dedicated her life to uplifting communities through servant leadership. She actively serves in numerous civic organizations as board member and director incluing the Girl Scouts of the Philippines, The Lions Clubs, Rotary Club of Olongapo, Brent International School, SKÅL International, the Philippine Red Cross, and KBP S.A.

Today, PSBP is truly blessed to be led by a passionate, humble, and active leader whose heart beats for children, families, and communities. We are excited for this new chapter and confident that, under her leadership, the Foundation will continue to transform lives and bring hope to countless Filipino children and families.

SHOEMBA PARA SA ESKWELA🥿🥾👟
Last April 9, Pearl S. Buck Foundation–Philippines, Inc. took a leap of faith and held our fundraising event.

None of us had ever organized a regional fundraising activity before, but we had one goal in mind: to do it for our sponsored children.

After securing our DSWD Public Solicitation Permit, we were grateful to see the support of our Board of Trustees, partner organizations, international and local donors, local government units, sponsored families, volunteers, and everyone who believed in our cause. Every act of kindness and encouragement meant so much to us.

While we didn't reach our original fundraising target, we achieved something just as meaningful: almost 500 sponsored children received a new pair of school shoes for this school year.

To everyone who donated, shared our campaign, volunteered, and supported us in any way, THANK YOU for making this possible. Every contribution, big or small, helped put a smile on our sponsored children and their families.

This is only the beginning. We look forward to reaching more children and creating more opportunities because we believe in a brighter future for Filipino children through education.

In Olongapo City, we were honored by the presence of our newly elected Board of Trustees President, Ms. Anne Marie C. Gordon, together with one of our generous donors, The Lions Club, represented by its President, Ms. Josefina G. Soberon, and its members. Their support and presence made the occasion even more meaningful.

THE UP PRIDE OF PSBP❤️
Two members of the PSBP College Scholars Batch of 2026 have brought great pride to the PSBP family through their outstanding achievements.
One graduated from the University of the Philippines Diliman, while the other earned a degree from the University of the Philippines Los Baños. Both graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors and received additional academic distinctions, reflecting their dedication, perseverance, and excellence.

Their journey with PSBP began in elementary school, where they were accepted as sponsored children. Throughout the years, they consistently excelled in their studies, earning honors at every stage of their academic journey.

MEETING 20 SCHOLARS FROM ORMOC💙
The Executive Director, Ms Tess met with the twenty (20) college scholars from Ormoc City, together with their parents and guardians. The meeting served as a venue to reiterate the scholarship’s procedural processes and requirements. It also incorporated discussions on family life dynamics, emphasizing the importance of fostering healthy relationships within the family. During the session, the ED shared key principles and practical insights on building strong family relationships and promoting effective communication among family.

Thank you to our individual and institutional partners in sponsoring these young adults in pursuing their goals in life. Together, we are preparing a brighter future for Filipino children through education.

PSBP's PARTNERS IN ORMOC💖
The PSBP Executive Director recently paid courtesy visits to two of PSBP’s valued partners: Hayag Charitable Association–Hayag Receiving and Childcare Home, Inc. (HCA-HRCH) and Ormoc Sugarcane Planters Association, Inc. (OSPA).

During her visit, Executive Director Ms. Tess Latoza personally expressed her heartfelt gratitude to HCA-HRCH for generously providing PSBP with office space within their shelter, enabling the organization to better serve its beneficiaries.
At OSPA, PSBP was honored to receive a Certificate of Recognition in appreciation of its sponsorship of a student from the association, reflecting the shared commitment to expanding educational opportunities.
