Buck International (PSBI) based In Pennsylvania, USA which carries the legacy of Pearl S. Buck, its founder who is a renowned first American woman to be awarded both the Pulitzer and Nobel prizes for literature. In 2003, PSBP has been registered with the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as non-sectarian, developmental and humanitarian assistance for Amerasian and displaced child
ren. PSBP is registered and licensed as service agency by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) until 2025. To date, PSBP has 550 sponsored children from the 4 areas of operations in Bulacan, Angeles, Olongapo and Leyte. Being a sponsored child and family, they were given educational assistance, (cash support, provision of school supplies, shoes among others, college tuition fees to selected scholars) health care (feeding program, vegetables backyard garden, medical/dental mission, nutrition education among others) and psychosocial initiatives (life skills seminar, career counselling Sportsfest and summer activities) . The generous sponsors are mainly from the USA while some 26 are so called “In-Country Sponsors” who lives in the Philippines. It is being guided by its By-Laws and Constitutions with elected 13 Board of Trustees headed by the Chairperson Emeritus and the President. Board of Trustees are from the ranks of education, business, law, security, public service, social work and health. It has consists of 10 full time staff headed by the Executive Director who is appointed by the BOT, 3 registered social workers and graduates of community development, nursing, finance management and social science courses. It has also 10 Area Coordinators from the areas who are sponsored mothers and guardians.
