The talk's core point is that poverty is real, but the numbers describing it are never automatic. Each poverty estimate depends on three choices, namely the welfare indicator, the poverty line, and the summary measure, so the figures are valuable for budgeting, targeting, and monitoring but must be read with care, since bad measurement produces bad policy. Using the Philippines as its case, the talk shows poverty falling over time yet still fragile, moving with income growth, with how equally that growth is shared, and with shocks such as disasters, illness, the pandemic, and fuel-price hikes. It argues that the fifteen-year-old methodology is due for review and that a single money metric misses much, pointing to multidimensional poverty, inequality, hidden poverty within households, movement in and out of poverty, and self-rated poverty, where about half of Filipinos consider themselves poor. These complement rather than replace income poverty. The closing message is to pair inclusive growth with well-targeted social protection, investment in human development and resilience, and stronger data systems, while treating poor people with dignity rather than as statistics.

💚 Investing in the First 1,000 Days, Building Brighter Tomorrows.

Another meaningful milestone has been achieved as we successfully distributed the June and July monthly allowances and essential supplies to the beneficiaries of 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐄𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 in Barangay Bagong Buhay III, City of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.

To further support the health and well-being of our expectant mothers, we also provided assistance for their First Semester Prenatal Laboratory Tests, ensuring they receive the essential prenatal care needed for a healthy pregnancy and a healthy start for their babies.

This initiative is part of 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐉𝐄𝐂𝐓 𝐄𝐑𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐒: 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝟏𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐃𝐚𝐲𝐬, under the 𝐇𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐇𝐨𝐩𝐞 𝟐.𝟎 program of Tulong Lasalyano, in partnership with Latigo Handang Maglingkod Foundation and Barangay Bagong Buhay III – City of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.

This collaborative effort reflects the spirit of Zero Poverty PH 2030—bringing together communities, local governments, civil society organizations, and development partners to deliver integrated, people-centered solutions that help families break the cycle of poverty and build a future where no one is left behind.

Together, we are proving that when communities work hand in hand, every mother is empowered, every child is given a healthier beginning, and every family is filled with greater hope for the future. 💚
