You thought healing would mean it doesn't hurt anymore.

So why does it still hurt?

Maybe because we've come to believe that healing always looks like the pain disappearing.

That one day we'll wake up and the memories won't sting. The prayers will all be answered the way we hoped. The relationship will be restored. The grief will finally make sense. The anxiety will quietly leave.

But life rarely unfolds that neatly.

Sometimes, you forgive and it still hurts.

Sometimes, you let go and you still miss them.

Sometimes, you've done everything you know to do, and you're still asking, "Why am I not okay yet?"

Maybe that's because healing isn't always the absence of pain.

Sometimes it's learning that pain no longer has the power to define you.

Sometimes it's finding the strength to take one more step when yesterday felt impossible.

Sometimes it's discovering that hope can grow in places you never thought it could.

And sometimes, God's greatest work isn't changing your circumstances first but faithfully changing you through them.

If your healing doesn't look the way you expected, it doesn't mean you've been forgotten. It doesn't mean you've failed. And it doesn't mean the story is over.

Maybe healing isn't about getting your old life back.

Maybe it's about becoming the person God is shaping you to be, one faithful step at a time.

Youโ€™ve carried shame long enough. What if the freedom youโ€™ve been searching for begins by bringing your brokenness to Jesus? His love isnโ€™t looking for perfection but inviting you into freedom.

We're really good at making light of heavy things.

Something goes wrong? โ€œOkay lang 'yan.โ€

Heartbroken? โ€œTara, kain.โ€

Having a life crisis? โ€œLaban lang!โ€

We joke about our problems. We send memes instead of saying what we're really carrying. We keep ourselves busy because the world keeps moving and somewhere along the way, we convince ourselves we have to keep moving too.

There are bills to pay. Deadlines to meet. Meetings to attend. Emails to reply to with โ€œNoted, thank youโ€ even when your heart feels anything but okay.

So you show up.

You do your job. You laugh with your officemates. You post your weekend dump.

You attend family gatherings and answer the usual questions about your career, your love life, and your plans for the future.

And when someone asks, โ€œOkay ka lang?โ€

You smile.

โ€œOkay lang ako.โ€

Classic.

Maybe explaining everything feels exhausting. Maybe you don't want to make things awkward. Or maybe you've carried it for so long that you've learned to function around it instead of dealing with it.

And honestly, maybe you are okay.

Most days.

Until something small brings it back.

An old photo in your gallery. A name you haven't heard in years. A familiar place. A random 2 AM memory you never meant to revisit.

And suddenly, you remember.

The mistake.

The decision.

The season you wish you handled differently.

The version of yourself you hope no one ever has to know.

โ€œMatagal na 'yon," you tell yourself.

The moment has passed.

But somehow, the shame hasn't.

That's the thing about shame.

It doesn't always keep us from moving forward. Sometimes, it simply convinces us to carry the past into every new season. It quietly reshapes how we see ourselves until we begin to believe we're more than people who have failed - we're people defined by our failures.

And so, we edit our stories.

We share the parts we're proud of and carefully hide the parts we hope no one will ever see.

Because underneath all of it is a question many of us never say out loud:
If people knew the whole story, would they still stay?

The good news is that God's grace doesn't begin where our story becomes presentable.

It meets us where we really are.

Grace doesn't excuse our failures or pretend they never happened. It tells us they don't have to be the truest thing about us. In Christ, our identity is no longer determined by our worst chapter, but by the One who gave Himself to redeem the whole story.

Maybe healing isn't pretending the past never happened.

Maybe freedom isn't becoming better at hiding.

Maybe freedom begins when we stop letting shame speak louder than grace.

Tonight, let's have an honest conversation about shame, identity, and the grace that doesn't just cover our pastโ€”it transforms how we live today.

Maybe that's why we edit our stories โ€“ show the wins and skip the chapters we're not proud of.

Because deep down, we wonder: โ€œWhat if they knew everything?โ€

But what if there's a grace that sees the whole story and doesn't walk away?

Join us at B1G Fridays as we come and hear why our past doesnโ€™t get the final word with "Live Free" from our "Heal Forward" series on July 31, 7:30 PM via Zoom.

What if healing doesn't begin by holding onโ€”but by letting go?

We try to control everything, yet many of us still carry silent wounds, disappointment, anxiety, loneliness, and exhaustion. Real healing doesn't start with trying harder to fix ourselvesโ€”it begins when we surrender to the One who heals completely.

Singles, join us at B1G Fridays as we launch the first installment of our "Heal Forward" series with the session entitled, "Let Go".

๐Ÿ“… July 24 (Friday)
