Creating sustainable island communities and building brighter futures for children through education, environmental, skills and surfing programs in siargao

The Sun Crew is based on Siargao Island in the Philippines. We work to alleviate poverty and build brighter futures for the local children. We do this by providing free surf lessons and board use in exchange for children attending school and participating in our education, sustainability and skills programs. Our aim is to ensure the children have the skills and opportunities to overcome poverty and play a key role in protecting their island and local communities.

We're still beaming from the joy of giving! 🎉 A huge thank you to Donna Dette Villarente and family from California, USA, for generously donating toys and books. We're thrilled to share that these have been turned over to Brgy. Antipolo Day Care Center! 🥳

The turnover ceremony was a heartwarming event, with Brgy. Captain Shirley S. Pamintuan, SK Chairman Artchie U. Sulapas, Teacher Ellen Alcala, the kids, and parents all smiling from ear to ear as they received the gifts. The kids were over the moon, and it was clear that this donation is making a big difference in their lives! 💙

We also appreciate the help of Sir Alvin Dulguime, for helping our organization make this happen.

All in all, it's been a day of giving, sharing, and spreading joy - and we're honored to have Donna and her family's kindness be a part of it! 😊

Today, July 3, 2025, the technical staff of the Standards Section of DSWD FO Caraga conducted its annual monitoring visit. This visit ensures that standards for the quality delivery of social welfare and development services to identified beneficiaries are consistently upheld.

We gave a warm welcome to Ma'am Emelyn and Ma'am Tyreen and are sincerely grateful for their time, support, and valuable insights. Their presence reflects DSWD’s commitment to excellence. With their guidance, we remain inspired to fulfill our mission of serving and uplifting communities.

☀️📚 What a summer to remember!🚀

We're incredibly proud to share the success of our 8-week Sun Crew SUMMER MATH AND READING TUTORIAL (SMART) Program! 🤩

This summer, we made waves across the Sta. Monica School District, reaching 10 different schools and empowering over 400 enthusiastic learners to strengthen their math and reading skills. 🧠💡

A huge shoutout and heartfelt THANK YOU to our incredible team of principals, teachers and 10 dedicated tutors! Your passion, hard work, and commitment are making a real difference in the lives of these students, helping them build confidence and get ready for a successful school year ahead. 🙌

Thank you also to the Department of Education -Siargao Division under the leadership of Dr Karen Galanida and Dr Manuel Caberte, Mr Reggy Asupre and Sta Monica District Supervisor, Mr Rolando Sapuras.

The RISE Summer Leadership Camp 2025 brought together passionate hearts, curious minds, and future leaders — and it all beautifully wrapped up on May 31, 2025.
