Creating sustainable island communities and building brighter futures for children through education, environmental, skills and surfing programs in siargao

The Sun Crew is based on Siargao Island in the Philippines. We work to alleviate poverty and build brighter futures for the local children. We do this by providing free surf lessons and board use in exchange for children attending school and participating in our education, sustainability and skills programs. Our aim is to ensure the children have the skills and opportunities to overcome poverty and play a key role in protecting their island and local communities.

It is with immense gratitude, sadness, and hope that we close the doors of The Sun Crew after ten incredible years of building brighter futures for the children of Siargao.

We thank all of the incredible people who have contributed to our success over the years - there are so many of you from all over the world and we are incredibly grateful.

We are so proud to be handing over our ongoing RISE Scholarship program to Nature Kids of Siargao, who will continue to ensure our scholars recieve the attention and support they need to excel academically and become changemakers in their communities.

It is as important as ever that you continue to buy our tees wherever you can find them, as these will continue to fund our scholars, and Nature Kids of Siargao's other programs.

We’re overflowing with gratitude 💛

Thank you, , for welcoming our Rise Scholars into your home and your mission. You gave them more than an internship — you gave them a space to learn, to serve, and to see themselves in the work you do every day.

Our girls walked through your programs and facilities with wide eyes and willing hands. They assisted, they asked questions, they learned skills they never imagined having. Most of all, they learned what it means to give their time and talent with love and dedication.

Here’s to the skills gained, the friendships formed, and the futures you helped shape. We’re forever grateful 🙏✨

To our Rise Scholars: congratulations on completing your internship with NKOS! We watched you grow quieter doubts into confidence, and turn “I can’t” into “I learned how.” You represented us with grace, and you made us proud every single day. 🥳

We're still beaming from the joy of giving! 🎉 A huge thank you to Donna Dette Villarente and family from California, USA, for generously donating toys and books. We're thrilled to share that these have been turned over to Brgy. Antipolo Day Care Center! 🥳

The turnover ceremony was a heartwarming event, with Brgy. Captain Shirley S. Pamintuan, SK Chairman Artchie U. Sulapas, Teacher Ellen Alcala, the kids, and parents all smiling from ear to ear as they received the gifts. The kids were over the moon, and it was clear that this donation is making a big difference in their lives! 💙

We also appreciate the help of Sir Alvin Dulguime, for helping our organization make this happen.

All in all, it's been a day of giving, sharing, and spreading joy - and we're honored to have Donna and her family's kindness be a part of it! 😊

The Sun Crew, Inc. is honored to receive another Kabulig Award 2025 for our outstanding support and valued contribution to DepEd Siargao's initiatives, advancing education quality and empowering learners. 🏆✨

Mrs. Mamemar T. Encina, our volunteer SMART Coordinator, received the award for The Sun Crew, Inc. on December 11, 2025 alongside Mrs. May Sheila S. Agad, one of our Directors, who join her at the ceremony.
